Nope no matter what I did to it the crank stayed rock solid.

but...

When they said to change the timing belt at 100,000 miles they meant it.
I figured I was smarter than the engineers and the belt could last another 20,000 easy.
It didn't.
It blew up doing 20MPH and not even under boost.
That day I learned exactly what they meant by the term "interference" engine.
There were parts of the head in the cylinder.
There were parts of the piston embedded in the head
There were parts of valves embedded in everything.
The whole section of head and valve seats for cylinder two just ceased to exist in this plane and moved onto a greater realm someplace.
From now on, whenever we get people who think they know everything, I'll show them this.

Or not. Maybe a catastrophic event has to happen in order for them to learn.

I'm getting close to good power. I can accelerate hard by just keeping it between 5000 and 6000. The rev limit is set at 8400rpm. K24 gt42 23lbs boost on e85.
Sometimes it spins in third if the tires are not warm since I switched to e85.

I don't know what some of you guys do when the roads are wet and slick.

Exactly, just like you do when you have the perfect amount of power in the dry.

Same with my '85 MR2. Interval was 60,000 miles.

First one broke at 60,010 miles.
Second one broke at 120,002 miles on the way to have it replaced.

I hit the interval two more times and did it 300 miles in advance of that so all was good.

Fortunately it wasn't an interference engine.

Take it from someone that has had: A turbo setup with 550 whp, and LS2 swap with 430 WHP, and stock with a tune.

IMHO, for this platform, the best WHP range is somewhere between 350 whp and 400 whp. I have a friend with a 350 whp setup and the car feels nice and balanced. Anything above that, and you start getting into bigger modifications, and less reliability.

Forget about engine swapping. Just do a good quality turbo kit, supporting mods and enjoy the car at around 350WHP. You will always want more, but going for more just means more money, more headaches, more potential for blown engine.. etc..

^ I'm inclined to agree. I fell into 350whp and have sort of sat there.
