Best tire fitment 18 x 9.5 +35 - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hello,

Just wondering what might be the best fitment to fill in the wheel gap with TRD springs (1" drop) and 18x9.5+35 wheels.

Currently on 245/35/18 tires but wheel gap seems little big and tires little stretched

The current front setup has around half a finger gap before rubbing the suspension

Would a 255/35/18 rub? Or a 245/40/18 do the trick? Or 235/40/18?...

Not in a rush for tires, just getting advice for when my current tires need replacement

Unfortunately you have already maximized your setup without switching to coilovers. You will not be able to run 255/35 up front you should be able to in the rear, but i do not recommend using a staggered setup. A 245/40/18 is just a taller tire size than what you already have there would be no benefit to switching to that size. If you want to run wider tires you will need to upgrade to coilovers...

side question on this, I now may consider the same 9.5" width (57DR 18x9.5 +38) as this gives more concave looks. I will run with tein flex Z.

245 is consider stretched already for 9.5"? Any negative for this?
I plan to run 245/35/18 or 245/40/18 (this change the speedo ratio a bit so I prefer first choice)

I'm running 255/40/18 and with the stock suspension and they don't rub, But I'm not sure about being dropped an inch..

I dont think 245 is going to be super stretched. You can safely run 245/35/18 on that size wheel. Different tire manufacturers have variances and tolerances in sizes so they can be more wide or narrow when comparing two of the same sizes from different manufacturers. If you dont feel comfortable with a 245 you can even fit a 255 if you like with coilovers that wont be an issue.

Yes, i would recommend a 245/35 or 255/35 as your tire choices. I like keeping my tires close to OEM specs as well but its all just personal preference.

What kind of tires are you running? I only had a few mm of clearance with the perch on 245/35s on stock suspension... Can't imagine 255/40 doesn't rub somewhere.

On coilovers 255/35 is ideal, 245/35 is fine though.

I actually is looking into 57DR 18x9.5 +38, same as your profile pic, are you running 255? does it feel sluggish for such wide tire in square setup? Given our car has only 205hp ... I may get tein CSG or flex Z coilover.

Nah on coilovers it doesn't feel sluggish at all, just make sure to get a proper alignment and dial in your negative camber. The car feels more planted than stock but in a good way.

I've been looking into this as well, since the wheels I'm getting are the exact same specs (18x9.5 +35mm). But I'll be on coilovers so I was debating going 265/35R18 as I have read on this forum they can be done. But I think I am going to go 255/35R18 all the way around instead, to minimize fitment issues.
