About 35,000 miles.

I have oil catch can that should mitigate carbon buildup.

What is strange is that so many of the valves are leaking, of the actual valve spring failures I've seen there is usually only 1 broken, only once have I seen 2 in the same engine...never seen more than that...

Do you have any insight as to why this may be?

Up till the misfiring at the traffic jam, the car was behaving normally and before that it had a track day 2 weeks prior with no incidents.

That's why I was asking about carbon build up on the valves, other possibilities are bent valves (ever get any water in the engine?) or burnt valves (is it tuned or running E85?, Money shift on track?)

Now THAT sounds like a diagnosis out of the 50s -

Maybe an Italian tune up is in order?

Have they performed a compression test - or did I miss something?

Watch the video. They're filming the actual leakdown

It's an interesting side effect of direct injection...however since these cars are also port injected, not normally a problem.

They are reluctant to completely open up the engine but sent me this footage *suspecting* it's the valve springs.

That is exactly how my car's symptoms started with single cylinder misfiring and associated CEL. Service started checking with spark plugs, coil packs, and injectors. Then, they said they have to take the engine apart and they found valve springs were bad. It is very expensive if it is out of warranty. I paid $4.5K

BTW I heard the ping at the moment valve spring failed when I was cold starting the car - very subtle sound, can be easily missed.

Good to know. So, if hear a ping on startup, I'll let my 2013 coast down the hill to the dealership and trade it in for a green one -

Oh, so that's what was going on -

So, I reckon I'll retire my compression gauge, along with my dwell meter and timing light - kinda

Well, if you are not joking, I wouldn't wait for that ping - those green ones will not be around too long and you can have a higher trade in value. Do it!

I cannot do that since I did too much wrenching on this one and I'm kind of attached to it now. I will keep it forever, renewing, replacing parts continuously.
