Seat Bolt Trouble
Hello,
I need some help on getting my seat bolt out. The previous owner attempted to get it out but made it worse. There is an extractor stuck in there. Who knows what they did! Anyone have any tips or tricks or recommend a good race shop in Socal? Thanks |

I hammered on a 7mm socket till it stuck to what was left of the bolt. Torched the bolt. Then it finally came out.
I burnt the carpet just a bit, so be careful!

If you have a dremel and are really patient, you can grind off the head. The screw itself will easily back out.
I prefer nibbling at stuff with those cutoff wheels.

This was very frustrating when it happened. When I finally got it out, I threaded a nut to the bottom of the bolt and then ground the round head to the shape of the nut. Then a socket fit over it. Swapped a front bolt that wasn't stripped to the back and used my new "custom" bolt in the front.
Still plenty of engagement threads holding the seat in. Safety first.

Some bolts are pre mangled. I swear 3 of mine on my drivers side has some sort of growths coming out of them that prevents the socket from seating flat. The passenger side was easy and 1 of the driver side was easy, but the last 3 are just being evil. I'm going to wait to it warms up and see if that helps anything. |
