The other reason not to use a torque wrench is its got oil on the thread so your going to over torque the bolt.
Plus its not a critical bolt ie. head bolt. |

Just to circle back and close the thread on this:
I removed the (non-OEM) drain plug and drained my oil. Upon inspection, it looks like the excessive force I put on the bolt by using my 1/2" drive made the drain plug cave in on itself. I installed the fumoto valve according to the instructions and the leak seems to have stopped...hopefully forever. I was/am however worried I cross-threaded the threads but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks all for the input. Hopefully others can learn from my mistake! |
