I like the q300 on mine but I have a JDL catted front pipe and resonator. It did get a little raspier over time. Especially the left side of the muffler, weird.

That muffler uses fiberglass packing. It will eventually burn up which will change the tone.

Most briefcase mufflers will do this. A friend with a OEM muffler through a catless system has broken down the OEM muffler over much track use. Sounds like poop, but it's still relatively quiet.

I had a catless OFH, over pipe, resonated front pipe and invida q300 on my car and it was perfect for daily driving. Cold starts were aggressive as always, then it would quiet down till you could barely hear it idle. No drone ever, even with no interior.

Is there a way to pack it again? Would love to reduce this rasp a bit.

Cut it open, repack it. Weld it together. Doesn't sound like a good time.

As NoHaveMSG mentioned you can do some muffler surgery. It's probably cheaper than buying a new muffler, but sounds like a P.I.T.A

Some brands have a warranty. You could always look into/contact invidia and see if they'd do something about getting a new muffler, at a subsidized cost. No idea if they back their products with anything.

I know with Corsa(what I'm running) they provide a lifetime warranty to the original owner, on defects. Their muffler setup is a bit different/unique though.

@OP, Q300 is not a good idea if you track the car. Mine sounded great up until first track day. Now sounds awful with drone at ~1800 & ~2500 rpm. I suppose this will happen eventually even if you do not track the car (some spirited canyon runs during hot days will do the same).

My setup: Tomei UEL + stock OP + stock FP + Q300

Yeah I get it. Wish there were still exhaust shops around. Have some guy cut the whole thing out and put a different muffler in. A thing of the past.
