Now ive used it just the same

an alternative albiet old school is deck grip tape for skate boards.

or go super cool and run these
I actually did this in my car. The street faction floor panel with skateboard grip tape....works very well and raises your foot back up near stock height.

Just put the carpet back. It is virtually weightless.

I kept the square of carpet where my feet and the pedals are in. It really isnt much weight at all (not more than putting something else in at the very least).

I was considering that. I actually have a spare carpet I could hack up.
Not worried about that little bit of weight. More concerned about getting it secured. But that should not be a problem with the clips and maybe a screw or two.

Use a few pieces of double sided tape to hold the carpet chunk in place

I dont have carpet in the car and I have never had this issue. However, if you are going to put something there do something like ML. I trust a bolted part more than something taped. The last thing you want is a loose floor mat or something in the pedal area.

If weight is concern most of the heavy foam underneath the carpet can be removed, then put the carpet back down.
Somewhere in my build thread I weighted it I think was about 6lbs of foam, then another 5lbs of tar scraped off. Put carpet back on top after that.

IIRC it's 9.5lbs without the foam backing.
