According to a fuel injector calculator I used on line I'm getting about ~320 hp out of my engine.. It's a stock engine I didn't add any force induction compressors to the FA20 block.. All I did was pay about $400 for an openflash tunning tablet and I began researching and learning how to manipulate the software settings for the last 1.5 years...

Easy, convert Can$ An impreza is a 2L WRX is 2.5 T . Up north we dish out a $12K for that. ![]() BRZ RS 2020 is already at 38K now up here. |

I've had almost every semi-modern Subaru engine made - many Stg2 catless EJs, FA20DITs, now the FA24DIT in the Ascent (have an AccessPort on it already) and am very excited about that engine going into other platforms. STI being a big one. I've always loved how the BRZ drives and it is such a funner platform over the bigger, taller, heavy, AWD drivetrain-loss WRXs/STIs I've had. Done with the EJ, been there, done that. I haven't owned one since I got rid of my RWD Bimmer. Almost pulled the trigger on a new M2C and just not feeling the whole thing (not to mention they're currently untunable since BMW locked out the ECU and the S55s have the crank hub spin problem - could be a REAL big problem if tuned). Anyway, as soon as I heard a bunch of well-timed rumors about the new FA24DIT possibly going into the new twins, it got the gears turning again. Had no idea what a sensitive topic it was here as I've NEVER freakin' hung out on this site before besides random guest lurking over the past 8 years, despite people thinking I've had another account, lol. |

In the summer time I tune the FA20 ecu btwn( 245-260)hp, because personally I want to keep this car running very well and it's to humid in NYC during summers, very humid/hot air reduces the performance output of any engine particularly this one because it had a higher compression ration than any 4 cylinder car on the market and that fact probably still stands valid today.. However, on the other hand in the fall/winter I've been tunning the engine between (280-320)hp because engines in general like to breath cold air and it's a more suitable performance environment, its like having being offered a natural cold intake reservoir, which results to suitable atmospheric conditions, espeacially when at high wind speeds..

Yea you deffinitely can get it up to +380 hp with a stock FA20 block but if your using stock port injectors your duty cycle will definitely be around or over 85% and according to fuel injector guide installions it's noted that the duty cycle should be at (X<=80)% or (X<= 75)% under safe operating conditions. I was informed in a forum i read about 1.5 years ago on this ft86club site by a guy, he had test studies and to back it up he posted graphs attached to his comments that our stock port injectors are operating at approximately 54% .. So it would be wise to shop around and by new port fuel injectors that are rated for 350cc/min or greater.. I'm operating my vechicles fuel injectors at a duty cycle of approximately 71%, with these stock port injectors this may be the highest duty cycle I'm willing to push my stock port injectors under my ecu tune..

Well it's more expensive and that's why manufacturers have these websites so you can make a quicker decision which is safe and conservative so a buyer will not have to waste extra time and money trying figure out if they should buy a particular aftermarket part because a lot of testing had to be done to insure the performance of the mod and its already done for you, in this way it's faster to calculate horsepower and torque rating so you can buy their fuel pumps and injectors without feeling as if you bought a product that will ruin your car.. I daily drive my scion frs 2013 and I have over 120k I'm trying to cut cost and enjoy myself.. One day I will dyno test it, when I get another gt86, kinda need two of these cars in my six years of having one.. Just to dedicate one gt86 for track driving purposes..

Lol, I was unsure of this as well, now I'm convinced, I feel the difference when I drive it, with just a good tune and no added force induction bolt -ons you just can't get rid of low torque output in the beginning stages of the lower end techcometer gauge, that's the big part of what it means to have a naturally aspirated high compression ratio engine, its so you can feel every bang for your buck, from the low very low end to the highest end until you reach the top of changing to the next gear or gearing up. I usually change it at 5,000rpm or 5,500rpm when I'm driving to feel the performance of it on an expressway..Once you work your way up through 4,500rpm and beyond the torque pull from the momentum and sound of this engine becomes so much more intense than the stock settings.. If you had a turbo version I imagine that the torque I feel at 4,800 rpm would be well noted at numbers approx. to (2,700-3000)rpm. In a turbo driven car because of boost you get higher torque ratings earlier which gives you a vantage point in horse power gains but boost doesn't last forever espeacially when it has to re-spool time and time again ..
