There’s a BIG difference between throwing some down pipes and a reliable, tested ECU tune on a car vs taking a high comp motor, ECU, drivetrain, fuel, clutch, suspension and entire platform that was never designed for a turbo and dealing with all of that at the mercy of the aftermarket. The BMW was one of the best “easy HP” platforms to start with.
I’m not trying to sign up for a potentially high-maintenance, ongoing garage project here.
Although that may have to be an option.

They’re already committing to a brand new, ground-up platform. They threw economies of scale out the window when they made that decision.

I live next the worlds biggest Subaru dealer. They have tons of WRX trims all the time. From bare-bones base models to loaded Limiteds.
I can't believe you insinuated the FA20DIT is proven lol. You got to remember there is a transmission that will be required too. Our stock one would not like the torque the DIT puts out.

There is no evidence the second gen is ground up. Only speculation.

Link me a 28K WRX from said dealership then?

The whole point of this car is it is a cheap RWD sports coupe. They are not going to change that. And I doubt they will split their customer base for this car by offering a turbo and NA version. If they ever had intention of making a more powerful version I doubt Toyota would have partnered with Subaru to begin with. They did it for the low CG of the flat 4.

Why did you even bother with this thread? Can't you see the shit show all the other ones ended up as

How about a bunch of $27K base models?
They’re actually low on stock now - I’ve seen like 60-70 WRXs n STIs before.
https://www.bestbuysubaru.com/new-in...anchor-model-7

Pretty sure it’ll be ground-up - it’s been 8-9 years.

I’m starting to see why there’s the shit show. A bunch of immature people getting highly defensive, bringing emotion and antics into a legitimate topic for some reason. Shitshow is right.

I firmly believe alot of the people complaining about them rushed the buy and really should have purchased something else to suit their needs.

Or they need a better job with more pay.

Or they are just angry at the world.

Or mummy wouldn't let them have anything more expensive.

My stock 86 was a cheap really fun little car at 150hp, my NA tuned and tweeked 86 was awesome fun at 198hp, my turbocharged 86 is more awesome fun, to the point of it being awesomeballs fun at 270hp.

If I kill it, meh, that's the nature of the game, and I'm fine with that.

In the end it's a cheap mass produced sports coupe, that we were lucky to get. I've been waiting for years for a replacement of the S15, that never came, BUT, the twins did.

Hooray for the twins, now let them rest in peace.

TL;DR they chose poorly

Thanks I have never seen a base WRX before most are mid spec 34-35K

All I am saying is it doesn't make sense for a turbo car. That is all anyone is saying. The only person being defensive and emotional about it is you. Pardon us for being a bit jaded about the subject. It's only been argued for the last 8 years. I personally don't even believe we will get an FA/FB24 based engine in the next car. Not that it maters, I will keep beating on mine until it meets it's demise.

Ditto. I'm doing what I want with it. It is SUPER awesomeballs at 310. If it dies, I'll just fix it stronger.

Wait you called it a shitshow, but I’m bringing emotion and defensiveness into it?
Reread the posts in just this thread alone. I’ve approached all of it with cold, hard logic. No emotion. Then you say people are jaded. That would imply emotion. But I’m the only one? Does not compute.

I get it - I’m not the first to want more power and talk about turbos on this site.
I remember having conversations about this before the first one ever hit our shores.
Lots of initial excitement but apprehension about the torque plot.
After many new BRZ test drives and modded buddies test drives, I could never pull the trigger. Too used to lots of power.
It’s been a long wait, and now we’re on the cusp of a re-do.
This is all going to come boiling back to the surface in force until the big announcement.

Well since you dont want to modify the car, although many have done it with good enough reliability, you should just move on bruh. You dont need to convince us sales or low or that the twins NEED a turbo.

So you’re against people that want more power from the factory, but you made it have more awesome balls power via aftermarket? Confused.

How is calling it a shitshow being emotional and defensive? You do know we are all sitting here laughing and joking about this thread in other threads right now.

Go buy a Fiat 124. Have some bolt on's and a tune done. Essentially what you are asking for.

Well, if they do end up turbocharging it, heads are going to explode here.
It’s going to be messy for sure.

Fingers crossed.

My doctor says I have a high tolerance to headsplosions. Or maybe it was my psychiatrist that said that
