RPM drops, headlight flickers when braking or switching from P to D (video included)

Also happens when I hold up the window switches while at a standstill. RPM's will drop a little bit when I hold up the window switches. Is this a sign of a weak battery? Oil light flickers as RPM's drop. I do have a P0171/P117B and P1170 code, but I don't believe that makes the RPM's drop as I brake. I suspect an underlying issue with a battery, which is also causing those codes. My voltages are around 14v though.

2014 Auto FRS. No TSB for RPM drop for my car, as those were for 2015's.

Oil light at 500 RPM? Wow. I'd get oil pressure tested regardless. Something's not good there.


What kind of tune? How long throwing codes? Does the drop correspond to when you started getting the codes? Does it correspond with any other changes you know about?


Stalling any motor creates a huge load. The window thing is normal.

Custom EcuTek tune. Thrown codes ever since I had SC installed. There is a small leak in the SC itself, but I don't know if that can cause RPMs to drop whenever I brake or switch gears.

Doesn't matter if I clear codes or not, the oil light will flicker whenever RPMs drop low.

I'm just not sure if it's an electrical problem causing the RPM's to drop.

I suggest first fixing whatever is causing the rich condition. Then, if that doesn't also fix the idle dip, keep going.

I had these symptoms when my car was in limp mode from a broken ABS module, on a manual transmission car. Braking and clutch-in to a stop, the DRL lights would cut and my engine would almost stall then kick back up.

Basically, if your car has a trouble code it will probably drive like shit and this is by design.

Can you make us a video showing the RPM dip when braking to a stop? Just for further documentation of the symptom for others who might have the issue. Thanks.

Googling P0171/P117B brings up a lot of results on this site. Fixes ranged from replacing flex pipes and fixing exhaust leaks, to replacing bad batteries.
