Gearing is going to be track dependent. Pre-17' gearing is not bad, a bit tall. I find the post-17' and up a bit better over a wider variety of tracks. |

I don't think it was the intention, but an original AE86 dips in the same spot, right before TVIS activates on the 4AGE. So it really is a modern hachiroku. haha.

Thoughts on changes...
I bought mine in 2012. Later they built a series blue with blue interior. IDK who's favorite color is red, but it is not me. BLUE all the way. Anyway, this change was significant to me. (I also want dual climate, but not enough to attempt the climate control swap or to sell my car)

I think the power is pretty damn good for an NA motor. A Golf GTI has 169kw vs the twins 152kw. Granted there's a massive torque difference, but still, I'm impressed at the hp/kw per litre at this price point. There's definitely enough power for amateur drivers to get themselves into trouble.
As for the torque dip. I came from a very low kw hatchback, 55kw, so I'm used to downshifting to pass cars. There's no lazy power or fat torque here. You have to "earn" the power and I prefer that. I think a lot of people who complain about it come from higher hp muscle cars or turbo hot hatches. |

If this was the 86 people would complain about the torque dropping away from 5k rpm.
You can only keep some of the people happy some of the time.

Lol, maybe. Yeah mine was a '95 Nissan Micra. Very light, 810kg tare weight I think. But low horsepower.

The "torque dip" is easy to get rid of. Patient shopping on classifieds did it for me. Otherwise just drive around it. If you put 600lbs of meathead in the car like one of the YouTube videos the dip will be an issue lol
