Today you will get suspend from school for taking a peanut butter sandwich for lunch!

Fellow Oregonian over here too! What are some roads you suggest? I'm in the Eugene area. I'm a big fan of going around Dorena lake. Taking the saginaw exit off of i5 to get out there is good fun too.

Hey this is a serious health risk for some! But suspending the kids is stupid, fine the parents.

Meh. By restricting it we are slowly eliminating natural selection and will soon have a generation that needs to live in a sterile environment or they will all die. It is a health risk for about .00001% of the population so let’s all totally over react and ban everything.

Yep, back-in-the-day-on-the-farm, if a kid was allergic to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, they either developed an immunity for them or died of starvation -

A friends kid wouldn't eat anything other than pbj's for a while there so the kid would go from the time she left home in the morning until mom picked her up with food in the car until she ate again. Mom got fined for bringing peanut butter onto the school campus in her car! Then the kid got out of school suspension for a week for having peanut residue on her one day after eating it at home. If a kid is that allergic then they are the ones that needs to take extreme measures and be home schooled or something. The fact that we have to go out of our way to accommodate something so rare is ludicrous but I'm an asshole so...

My oldest resident granddaughter has an severe allergy to nuts. Up till she was about 4 years old, we watched to make sure she didn't eat anything with nuts in it. Also, her school teachers and school nurse was made aware. When she was about 5-6, when she could read, she just stayed away from iffy foods that might contain nuts.

So, why should we inconvenience others, just because she has an allergy?

Eating products with nuts is one thing. These people that think there is some airborne nut mist that is going to asphyxiate their child is quite another. Even eating the nuts does not mean a severe reaction to those that truly have an allergy (a very minute percentage of the claims are actually an allergy at all) Disciplinary action for having a bit on your clothes or in your car are ludicrous but happen all the time.
Odds are she has outgrown it by now.
My grandson had a rather severe reaction to anything with artificial orange in it (most orange juices, orange pop, popcycles, etc) so I understand the concerns of them being consumed but this whole freak out if it is anywhere within a 20 mile radius of them is just nuts.
