It's interesting that the RX-8 styling is very similar to the 86. They both have aggressive serpentine fronts with very little body lines or creases (i actually mistook my first BRZ sighting as an RX-8 for a split second before it got closer). The only problem I've ever had with the RX-8 is the fact that the second set of doors just ruins the overall styling by stretching the body out. *looks at front* nice! *looks at back* dat ass! *looks at side* GAH!

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to figure out for years why certain sightings or pictures of that car leave me all buttery in my nether regions, and other times it strikes me as as an automotive-design travesty... and that's exactly why! The front and rear are super, super sexy, but it's got a horrible profile. And it's because of those doors. Huh. Took me long enough to figure it out, LOL...

Of course, you'd have the Subaru so you didn't have to tell people you have a Toyota...

Don't worry - different brands cary different mentality and audience in different countries. E.G. Honda in UK - car for retired (not retarded!) people. Would you say that about Honda in US? No!

Same for Toyota - it has a strong 'people-mover' 'bored to death' aura. Clarkson makes his judgment from where he is at.

And esthetics - personal preferences. It will grow on him

Nice to have a good UK review, this spits in the face of and further discredits those UK trolls at "EvoTV"!

Honda in New Zealand - God damn Vtec everywhere.... far to many Type R's about lol.

Toyota in New Zealand - Half old people, half boyracers.... along with the old Toyotas, bogan central with the everything 5th Dx Corolla having a 13B Turbo in it.

Subaru in New Zealand - Oh dear... Dear oh dear.... lol

This thread is a gift that just keeps on giving! My "owner's ego" gets bigger every time I open these posts. I think I'll buy a copy of this magazine just for posterity sake.

To be fair, can you blame him, after having to look at the Avensizzzz for years?
