I could imagine there being a check engine light, so you might need a manual transmission car’s engine harness and ECU or figure out some way to fool the auto ECU. Usually such a problem would put the auto transmission into a limp mode, but not the engine, hopefully, so it might just be a daily annoyance.

There's more to it than that, and the thread linked already outlines everything needed. Some bolts are definitely different, wiring harnesses are different (dash has to come out), there's a pump driven by one of the cams that has to come out, etc.

This is a job for people who love working on their cars, have an extra car for actually driving, and don't really care about the cost.

If that's you, go for it.

If you're thinking of paying someone, you're going to be incredibly unhappy.

Well .. there is a way for that someone to do successful swap at reasonable costs and time.
That someone .. just as several times been suggested, needs to secretly sell this car, buy same color MT, retrofit all differences/mods to even more make it seem same car but with swap, and never tell OP about that it's different car.

Manual swaps are easy if you do it the least expensive way.

1) Drive to dealer.
2) Trade car in on manual.

This logic also works on engine swaps.

LOL Yeah does kinda sound like me tbh, been working on cars since I was 16 but never done a huge project like this but I know I can do and I know forsure Ima need some help at times. Yes I do have a separate car I can use meanwhile. I’m really just trying to way my options and see if i want to fully commit. Like I said before I don’t wanna sell my car, money isn’t an issue so I don’t need to sell and buy a new one... I really wanna just work on my car and do things like these types of projects and eventually i’d like to engine swap too tbh. So that’s why I’m NOT selling the car... I wish there was full guide on how to do this (visually).

Well, I'm sure you'd learn a lot, and I'm sure it's much easier than a manual swap, but there are many potential issues with electronics. Just budget 3x what you think it will cost. THen you'll be fine.

You bought an automatic, live with it.
You don't want to sell it, keep it.
You want to spend more money for a swap it doesn't need, costing more than the car is worth.
The reason why there is no guides is because it's a retarded idea.
You can find the same exact car, color, options, a bit high/lower miles, but with a manual.
If money is of no issues, buy a cheap manual car, use that as the project car.
You can transfer all the "mods" you currently have to the manual car.

At the end of the day it's your car, you can do what ever you want with it. Even if 99% disagrees and you end up with a brick on wheels. Like the song says "I did it my way".
Don't be a chump.
Good luck.

Yeah bought it cuz i was a impulsive 18 year old. I want to spend money on a swap cuz 1 it definately cost far less than what the cars worth.. im looking at around 4k-5k total according to a lot of people. 2. This is a project car for me LOL I dont need the car to daily or anything like that its my fun car now. 3. Its my first car and yeah i wanna keep it. Has sentimental value. And no its not a retarded idea if theres alot of people on this forum and online that have done it and they even sell manual swap kits that are sold daily according to the shop that contacted me LOL. I guess for most people its too much money for them to do a swap so they always say its dumb idea.. thats not the case for me sorry.

No need to apologize for your parents having money, spend it how you want. 2 years from now when the car doesn't run you can unload it to recoup that $4-5k you lost.

LOL.

1. I paid every cent of my car when I was 18 and worked my ass off to where i am today... They only helped sign the car off the lot thats literally it... 2. My car barely has 50k miles on it... I plane to properly do this manual swap either my self or a formidable shop. Please get off my thread if your just going to talk out of your ass.. I'm asking for advice about a manual swap not advice on trading in my car for a manual..

If you need a visual guide to do this then I recommend you don't.

You could sell your car, and buy a manual and be close to a wash. Then you would have all that money from what you didn't spend on the manual swap to do further mods to the car. Make the smart decision, not the emotional one. It's just a car.

Literally the second post in this thread....

And according to him a 1500$-2000$ DIY. A lot cheaper then trading.
About a wash if a shop did it, but with too many potential unknowns then I’d say trade in.
Also factor in the time/hassle for having to go through the process of trading in/buying. And the time/hassle of swapping over current mods.

So if he wants a MT and can DIY then go for it.
If it’s a “project car” then why have anyone else work on it and not DIY?

DIY or trade.

Trade for manual, easy, quick, reliable, cheap, not stupid

Buy old classic car (or bike) to work on and waste your money and time on.
