The "dip" on the Ace header in this graph is an anomaly. Here's a full set of Ace dynos to verify.



The JDL 4-1 completely obliterates the torque dip. Long story short, the JDL makes the same peak area under the curve as the Ace from 6500-7400, which is important if you're shifting at redline and want maximum acceleration. If you want maximum bang for your buck for top end power, go with the JDL 4-1.

The A350 has a vastly larger midrange powerband, yielding larger overall gains area under the curve, but comes at a premium price. If you want the best powerband available NA, go with the Ace A350.

Both headers are engine limited up top, rather than flow limited.

For FI results with a supercharger, see this thread, that compares a Ace A350 vs Gruppe-S header, both on a JRSC + HBP + Ethanol. The Gruppe-S header is on a straight E85 tune, whereas the Ace A350 is on a Flex tune with E70. you should. Get the good stuff. There are very few times in the auto scene where 1 part is so obviously better.

When I bought this car, my original plan was to eventually upgrade the header to try to eliminate the torque dip when I could justify it and was comfortable with foregoing some warranty. I was hoping that the 4-2-1 EL header would be more similar in price (in Canada) to their UEL or 4-1 EL offering compared to the ACE, and I was not disappointed.

Compared to the ACE A350 (non-coated) and a Delicious Tuning remote ECUTek tune, it cost me over $1000 less to get the JDL 4-2-1 (w/ full cerakoting) and a custom dyno tune with OnPoint Dyno.



Sasha said that it’s one of the highest HP NA BRZ’s he’s ever had. Car pulls strong right to redline and the torque dip is all but gone. These numbers are with the stock intake, stock overpipe and stock front pipe still in place.

For reference, this dyno is a bit of a heartbreaker... stock BRZ’s typically make anywhere from 140 to 155hp on this dyno.

For more reference, a 2014 FRS with a catless JDL UEL header made 166whp on the same dyno.

I'll take the data points from the photo with some software I have and re-plot it later. Tried to best fit the curves with paint but the scaling of hp/torque on the two graphs didn't want to play ball.

13-16 MT/AT or 17+ AT, as indicated by the torque dip.

How does each header compare when they have been tuned to suit the individual headers flow?

Without letting the engine management system know what it can do with the different flow characteristics of the different designs, surely the results would be compromised.

From previous experience, without a individual tune to suit, none of the headers tested would be giving their full potential.
