I have strayed very far from my 240Z roots. I got increased camber on that car by cutting the front control arms and having plates welded in to lengthen them, my mockup cost zero, welding shop $40, done. On the Cayman I had to buy GT3 control arms that you lengthen with shims. Same effect, $800!
I spent $150 for a rebuilt Nissan truck transmission (best 5-speed ratios!) for the Z once. Needless to say a Porsche factory rebuilt transmission is many many times more expensive... Though it was actually LESS expensive than what some people are asking for used ones on ebay!

An LS swapped and fully prepped Z would eat your Cayman for lunch, too. Never should have moved on.

The Z with its 3.1 liter stroked L28 and triple 45mm carbs, 245 rwhp and 2300 lb, would for sure eat the Cayman for lunch as it was, no LS needed.

Partial traded it for LS-engined FD RX-7. Now that car was pretty fast...

Man I bet that thing sounded good. They remind me of the old Ferrari V12's...

The car records excursions in revs and when they happened, report was generated when I got the PPI. This car has hardly been revved to redline.

I mean, you could have had the front strut slotted bolt mounts shaved a bit to increase camber further that way, but I wouldn't recommend it.

FFS man, your anti-Porsche sentiments are starting to reach caricature levels. We get it. Meanwhile my 13 year old Cayman just shrugged off 240 miles of HPDE driving last weekend in 100°F ambient heat. Guess it should have broken down though, eh?

I'm sorry. I've never owned a VW, I must admit, so I guess I'm talking out of my ass.

How much money has gone up in hydrocarbons in the quest to outperform a Porsche? A 10k econobox with 30k of aftermarket parts and 20k worth of sweat and frustration may do some things better but it still won't be a porsche.
