Meh, I drove the DSG version at one point and it seems okay if you use your car as a DD and want launch control. I just hate how autos shift at times. I think manual GTIs don’t handle tunes as well too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

One of the reasons I bought the GTI was because I needed a car the wife could drive, and the GTI and DSG paired so well together. I'd argue NA torque-challenged cars like the Twins benefit from a manual a lot more (or S2000, Miata, etc.)

I noticed this immediately when getting on it and I was surprised by how it just kept pulling. My two previous turbo vehicles both had manuals and it did not feel that fast because you lost boost every time you shifted.

Other than that, the AT in the Twins is better-executed than most slush boxes on the road and feels like its acceleration is on-par with a well-driven MT Twin. |

I actually traded my Mk7gti for another 86 (my third). Love gti but I realize I really miss driving a sexy lightweight, rwd, with a manual. The gti although much faster just seems docile even after fully disabling the nannies. Also, at the track I really missed rwd

I agree that the GTI deserves a smaller rim/ tire combo with thicker sidewalls. If I ever had kids, I would consider going back to the GTI, but a tire swap to a 17r45 or 50 would have to happen. |

I noticed that you are located in NYC as well. Where do you go when you want to have a little fun carving up some back roads? |
