I think you were looking at the price of the auto - the manual is listed as $39,870.98 drive away for that dealer on the toyota website.

EDIT: unless you got the aero kit?

WA has more stamp duty and tax than every other state. Prosser is usually pretty good on pricing, they certainly gave me the best quotes in Perth for the two Toyotas I brought new in Perth.

Those 'protection' packages from the dealers should be avoided like the plague! A good car detailer will do a better job in less than a 1/3 of that price. Oh well, live and learn.

I also have to wait until January for mine, but just gives me more time to save and pay off a bit more of the car before I have to start paying the monthly installments

Erk, I managed to get $1500 off my Tornado Grey GTS manual and $1500 off partner's GTS auto. Ended up at $80,000 for both, delivery expected by mid-Dec (though I think it's optimistic). I'm in Sydney though.

Paint and leather protection you can do yourself or get it done professionally outside of the dealership for much less!

Sure thing mate.

Steven Benjamin at Ryde Toyota (9812 1777)

Took some haggling at first. He quoted me the prices on the website but we got there in the end.

I think they are being optimistic about their delivery times tbh. I'm realistically expecting mine Jan/Feb 2013.

Well I just straight up told the bloke, I'll buy two cars today for $80000, deposit $500 each, you want my business or not? Because I'm happy to wait and go to someone else. He called back with manager approval within 3 minutes of me dropping the phone. In the end, he gets his commission.

I suppose I'll see you hooning around Ryde/Parramatta around then?

Purchased a White GTS Auto on the weekend (Sat July 14th) for $42,215 on the road.
Plus $1500 for paint protection, leather protection, parking sensors and tinting. Also got a full tank of petrol...
Total $43,715.

Delivery expected mid next year. No tracking number, when I asked they said it will come later. Is this normal?

12 month wait, geez...
it seems to be the norm that the tracking details arnt given out straight away. wait a month or 2 and then badger them. its not like those tracking details will come in handy for you for 6 months + anyways

Yep, as discussed in the other thread, its pretty useless until around 2months before the 'delivery' date anyway... you just gotta sit tight and cross off those days now :P

I am buying a sonic blue GTS AUTO

$40,349.98. The dealer said they will register it in their state with a 3 month rego and not chagre me for the costs (so they can claim the sale). Does this mean i avoid stamp duty?

1 week until my 2000KM drive home in my new baby - named Tiffany (all my vehicles have to have a female name starting with the manufacturer's letter)

You should check with your local department of transport how the stamp duty works - you may have to pay it twice. There is some rule that if you own the car less than 12 months... its to stop people buying interstate to pay less stamp duty.

I would rather the dealer not register it, get a temporary moving permit (or ask to borrow dealer plates and send them back) to drive it home and then register in your own state and pay the duty.

No. Stamp duty is payable upon transfer to your name. It cannot be avoided. Stamp duty will be around $1250 depending on your location. Either way it sounds dodgy. I've never heard of such a thing. Cars can be sold without registration, but stamp duty will always be charged upon registration application. There's no way around that. Also, if they're interstate they can't supply a green slip to you.
