I was able to remove mine by putting car in 5th gear and cranking on the hand brake as hard as I could. That bolt is seriously on there!
ima try this when i get home thanks.also does heating the bolt will make it even harder to removed ?

Well, heat would cause the metal to expand. You'd need to heat the pulley.

I suggest you drive the car for about 10 to 20 minutes and then break the bolt loose. It worked for me and others. Just pick up a breaker bar. I didn't use anything other than that.

You can use the starter motor along with a breaker bar to loosen the bolt. If you don't know how to do this, take it to a qualified mechanic who's got the proper tool. It's a simple mod so it should not take too much skills to remove it.

What am I missing here, why not just put the tranny in 6th gear to lock the engine? Or does the OP have an auto.

The HTML manual says 20 flb, then another 90 degrees

Probably not. That is unless, of course, he stripped the bolt with all his shenanigans. You should be fine. Positive thoughts...

Deep breath..... Get Perrin to send you a instruction pdf, Take a look and learn it. Then bring it all back over to the tech. Then learn and work it out together. You will come out ahead in the long run. Take that over to the dealer and your going to hear the word "void"

Take a photo of your serpentine belt path with your phone. The diagram included in the instructions is a different motor. Save yourself the hassle of tracking down the belt path.

I unplugged my sparkplug wires and used the starter motor plus breaker bar on my stubborn impreza.... Worked great, should have done it as soon as it gave me a hard time. Good luck, it really shouldnt take 30min.

Don't heat the bolt, please. You're not going to screw up the bolt, but the parts & seals near that aren't made for that kind of heat, and those you could screw up. I don't know if the bolt is left hand or right hand thread, but find out before you start. Over tightening can destroy the bolt and the crank, I've seen both done in the past. To be honest, at this point I'd try to find a replacement bolt as that one may have been stretched to the yeild point, especially considering the torquing method listed by sparks. That sort of torque method, to the best of my knowledge, is either used for torque to yield or Belleville spring washers.
