I ordered mine through Sydney City, deposit in Feb dealer told me i'll be the first Pearl white, tracking In May, went in end of June for test drive. Dealer said "i'll be first to receive pearl white auto car in late July or early August".....checked my Toyota web tracking, still said "in production, Latest estimated pick up date 1/09/2012" called my Dealer back with what I saw on the net he said "ah yep! sound's about right..."

I went hm.... haha!

hahaha wow, I'm starting to hate Toyota/Subaru for doing this.. If they could give a solid production date for each car it would be awesome, that way people can organise temporary cars till then (like me) lol

In a way it was unexpected though. Cheap, getting rave reviews from journos, looks great, limited production.

I just switched to a GT because of the wait, I'll do most of the cosmetic stuff myself with the money I save. Got a tentative date of Dec of this year.

Is there another letter from Scott Thompson ie: Waits on Orange GTS 86's, or how did you come across this info 450hp/tonne ??

I want to wait until next year to order (because I don't have the money to pay for it in full this year if by some miracle it was to be delivered.) I'm scared if I order next year I won't even get one next year...

well this is sort of what i did. I waited until now to order because i wasn't sure when i'd have the money and definitely not ready to have it early. Now after hearing this massive wait, i am sort of regretting not placing an order earlier.

IMO place the $1k deposit now and if it come miraculously this year (highly unlikely) all you will lose is that deposit or you can refund it (depending on your contract). This is something I wish i had done earlier...

if the orange is much less popular than the white wouldn't that mean less of a wait? or do they produce more white to cover the percentage of orders? it would make more sense to me that the white would be 18months and the orange to be 8ish.. or i could be wrong all together lol

I'm a bit worried about this myself. My dealer keeps telling me that it's going to be 'October production date, November delivery' but hasn't given me the tracking details. He gave me the stock number, but not the other code. He said he'd let me know 'sometime this week' but I'm starting to wonder.

The car is a Orange GTS, which apparently has a huge wait on it. I ordered on the 25th of June.

I suspect he might be screwing me around to keep his sale, because I specifically put in the contract that I can pull out if the car isn't delivered by October.

If he's screwing me around and I have a 18 month wait, i'm going to be livid.

exactly man! pretty pissed, anyone know approx how long does it take for a car to be going through the production line and on to a ship and the time from the ship to Australia from Japan?

The reason i'm asking is because, it's nearly end of July, in June my order said "Build date: July 2012". So i'm assume it should be already built with an un-updated web tracking or they haven't even started my production....If the car has been through production and is on ship, doesn't it take another month or something for it to hit our shores?

July Built date could Mean 31st July. 2 Weeks on the dock in Japan, 2 Weeks on boat, 2 Weeks at the port and time for dealer to prepare - Mid Sept ???

damn...sounds about right. The web tracking said "Estimated Pick up Date: 01/09/2012" so it's a rough calculation of when i'll receive it. I hope it comes sooner then mid Sept though. Thanks blood86!

I went to the dealer the other day and asked for build dates, delivery etc. the salesman showed me a piece of paper with all the 86 orders on it and showed that mine will be an October build, November delivery. I was told when I ordered on the 21st of June that it will be a September build, October delivery...
I ordered a White GTS manual
