Trading Between Dealerships

Did anyone here in Oregon have their dealer find them a car via trading with other dealerships?
The dealership I've gone to is projecting a 6-7 week wait on this process. Anyone else with a similar experience? I guess I could wait nearly 2 months, but input from someone else would be reassuring.

i was always under the impression to trade between dealers they need to have another similar car. so unless you don't like the transmission or color option it would be hard to do. but this is just what i was told back in like 06 when we where looking for an impreza for my wife. but they told us if the other dealership had what we wanted it could be done the same day. my guess is your wait is based more on supply than inventory swap.
i would also assume the dealer that has the car you want is not going to easily let the car go because then they don't get anything for the sale. GL

i'm beginning to think i pre-ordered at the wrong dealership because of the small allotment they get vs. other dealerships. anyone have a good idea of who gets a higher volume per month?
i talked to broadway toyota and they had 3 within the last 2 weeks. whereas the dealership i'm pre-ordered at only got 1 at the beginning of the month and getting one at the end of the month. they're going to need to trade for the car i want.. so i'm assuming i should probably get with a dealership that has more trading pieces, am i right or am i wrong?

It depends on how much the dealer is willing to work for the customer.

The dealership I am working with had a White Automatic coming in, and they had to find another dealership that would trade a manual for an automatic, then when they had the manual car, they had to find a dealership that had an asphalt MT coming in, and talk to them about trading it to them. Although, It's still being built, and I have another month to go on it, lol

My dealership has been outstanding.
