Dropped mine off along with a copy of the TSB at 4 PM yesterday. By 5:30 they had called to tell me that they were going to do the clearance check and reshim if necessary as per the bulletin. It will probably be week to a week and a half depending on if they have to order parts and how long it takes to get them. We'll see how this goes.

Well! Looks like I jinxed it.

Coming back home from dinner. 5 degrees Celsius so not really cold; engine was warm. Not only a CEL again but also a traction off light at the same time. I didn't press anything and was moving at the time. Back she goes!

It didn't seem to idle weird though in terms of vibration FWIW.

I've had zero issues other than the light. I had been putting this off but throwing codes three separate times in less than a week led me to believe that something was getting worse. I post my on going results once I get the car back.

O'Reilly and other auto stores do scan the OBD2 for free (at least here in Midwest). Or take it to a Subaru dealer, since it's under 5yr/60k mile warranty.
A catback should not void the warranty.

do we all agree it's only the 6 speed specific issue?

my cel went away yesterday. came back today. each time it happens, i noticed the temperature changes and the humidity changes. and each time when it happens, it's during idle and the idle gets rough a few times then the light comes on

you didn't have the ecm reflashed, maybe that's what's missing.

Good call! Just dropped it off. Dealer told me they just received the TSB the day after I picked it up before. Plan is to reflash ECM.

same here. i don't think my car has any performance issue even with the cel on. but it's just annoying and not knowing if this damages the car in the long run

No.

I got the car back this evening. Took about 4 days, mostly waiting for the parts to coming in. They had to replace one shim and they did the reflash. On the drive home everything seems fine. I'll run it more this weekend and see how it doing. Right now though, so far so good. Car is running fine and no CEL.

Hopefully the reflash fixes everything but that tin can sound you mentioned earlier is really worrisome... :o

it'll take at least a month to confirm if it's a true fix. cuz if i remember correctly, the longest time the cel was off on my car was probably between 3-4 weeks. it's been 2 years since i bought my 2017 brz and subaru just came up with the 1st more promising attempt fix. they had similar issue with the 1st gen brz/frs and they put in a software fix on the ecm. i waited all these year to avoid the 1st gen brz (or any car 1st gen) and it still got the same problem... sigh...
