My same concerns I voiced earlier, almost verbatim. It almost seems there is a greater chance of the dealership fucking up your motor due to shoddy work than there is of the spring actually breaking. Or, close enough. Either way, not a compelling track record to get me into the shop to have this done.

Holy cow, there are so many more bad "jobs"now! Its been a while since I checked back sorry. The mechanic performed the repair, and I recieved the car 2 days later. It has been maybe 3 weeks now, maybe 500 miles, and so far, all seems well. Dealership is named anderson Toyota in lake havasu az, if anyone cares. Also, full bolt on, with tune and all, and they worked with it, and put it all back on for me.

Little update regarding mine, I okay'd the new (Used) engine, for $5000, dealership then called me back the next day, and said the used engine was on backorder and they couldn't get it for 3 weeks ( I wonder why?? ), and then she told me that they could drop the engine rebuild from $7500 down to $5300, which I then okay'd. Last tuesday, I went into the shop on monday to check on it as they told me early next week, and my engine was still in once piece, which makes me think they didn't even take it apart when the GM "Came" in the first place. Went back yesterday, and everything was taken apart, and the rep told me I'd have it by thursday! So fingers crossed, still looking into the legal side of things.

I just got my car back from the dealership last night drove it home and the idle bounces around from 500rpm then jumps back to 1k then sits around 700rpm till it loses the revs again and bounces back to 1000rpm should i be worried? is this abit of a sign of things to come or just a crappy tune?

Well, I went in for the odd sound off throttle at 3000rpm. They did a bunch of listening and found a crack on my aftermarket header that I'd asked them to swap out during the original work but they hadn't done. Anyway, the car is great now, with no weird noises. Purrs like a kitten. Also no oil leaks anymore thanks to their work. So I'm happy. One Toyota of Oakland. The best service adviser ever is there, Chase. Super happy to work and stick with him.

Welcome to the group, there, Effy -

Your car (ECU) may just be relearning stuff after it was cut off from power.

I'd give it some time and miles to settle down.

I've gone over 1500 miles since the recall and my car is still doing this. At first I thought maybe I was being hyper sensitive to every sound the car makes. But it is still doing it for sure. Sometimes the idle dips so low I think the car is going to stall.

My car has been doing this for 7 years. He's like a drunk, just as he's about to fall over, he shakes himself off and keeps on stumbling.

Mine was doing this before I took it in for the recall. I think it's just the stock tune.

New document posted to the list. I believe it's this one, although they are listed by suffix and the suffix does not seem to indicate anything chronologically. 7099 dated 3/27, 7136 dated 2/13

Nothing too damning, just another highlight on overuse of sealant. I don't know who these dealer letters go to specifically, most likely a different group than the technical instructions. The document says "To: All Toyota Dealer Principals, General Managers, Service Managers, and Parts Managers"

My car falls under this recall. With the track record of these engine failures after the J02 recall, I feel that it is safer to drive my car without doing the recall. Either way, the opportunity for catastrophic engine failure exists; potentially life-threatening if it were to happen in a bad location. I believe the potential for engine failure is diminished by avoiding the JO2 recall altogether.

SUBARU, how about giving us crate engines?

The odds of failure diminish as they update the instructions and the techs get more practice. Probably safe to have it done soon.

Sure, they are going to hand out 25,000 crate engines. Makes perfect business sense.
