It reacts with the rubber and softens it up. Thick and sticky too, doesn't evaporate off like carb or brake cleaner. You do have to wash it off and clean the parts with brake cleaner or something along those lines afterwards. Loctite has a matching can of cleaner remover, smells just like brake clean.

So far no engine noises. Seems to idle quieter than before. Hopefully I don't get any issues.

Went to pick it up from Toyota this morning. Two things were wrong:
1. the plastic engine cover was loose, looks like one of the clips were broken, they're getting me a new one. 2. There was a distinctive chirp coming from the engine when I accelerated the car (not the usual fuel pump chirp we all know) so they're keeping the car to have a master tech look it over (not sure why they didn't do this before calling me to say is ready) A little frustrated, they are however taking care of it. They did let me keep the Tundra free of charge until the car is ready. Will update as the story develops... Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk |

I thought I would share my experience. I dropped my car off on Tuesday at Longo Toyota in Ca. I spoke with the tech doing the work (Jason) let him know Im extremely fond of this car. I got a free rental '19 Camry which was larger than I expected and extremely boring to drive around. I picked up my car Thursday, and the car appears to be running fine with no issues so far. I drove about an hour home in traffic, car ran fine. The tech also did a good job with the aftermarket engine strut bar and MCB which didn't add any additional cost or issues.
Overall I have had a pleasant experience, I will report back if anything goes wrong in the next couple weeks. my car had 80k at the time of the recall. I suggest to all getting the recall done to also get a physical paper stating you did the recall, that way in case the dealership fails to notify the DMV you don't have to jump through hoops for proof of the recall completion. |

Anybody have pictures of one that hasn't been disassembled they can post up for comparison?

Just some from the internet. Compare this one with the valve cover off to the other one posted. It's obvious the sealant is applied toward the outside as well, unlike the one posted previously.
