I'm trying to find the article where this was witnessed but it was from a few years back, if I find it, I'll link it.

If he truly did "get it" he would have left the car named 86, not changed 86 logos to Scion and left it with Toyota. Since this car was meant to revitalize Toyota's passion, not keep Scion a float a bit longer.

As for the "he's not an engineer" comment, I point to what I said about Toyoda-san in this post. That's how I expect him to know about his products, the same way his President and CEO does.
Yeah, but same thing can be said bout other VP. What Lexus VP have done? When Toyoda-San have raced using TRD Prius or other Eco cars? What Nissan president recently raced? Why Subie CEO didn't bring EE engine to US? Why Ford President didn't bring diesel engine to Fiesta?

Again, not all higher up ppl can put feedback to EVERYTHING they oversee

There is not many CEOs like Akio and I am sure the decision to bring the gt86 over as a fr-s is not totally up to Jack. You think the CEO didn't have a say in how the car will be branded in the US?

Not trying to argue, but Finance calls a heck of a lot more shots than does Marketing.
I say kick out the finance guys.

Seeing as Toyoda-san has been quoted saying he wanted to bring Toyota out of making boring cars. I could see why he's avoided the echo and prius, he's focused on the true, purpose built, performance cars. As for the other brands and their CEOs, there's a reason I side with Toyota and not them. (Well a few reasons, but that's one)

I'm not saying he should have put feedback into the car during development, but I do expect him to actually drive the car around a track and know a thing or two about vehicles, aside from brochure quotes. Especially with this particular vehicle and what it was supposed to stand for.

It seemed that all he did for the brand was not screw it up completely. When he was given great products they did well, when they had poor products their sales started to slide big time. All he did was stay neutral and not screw things up. Their web site always sucked and was super slow, their commercials were never memorable nor was, well, anything they ever did. He seemed like he was always slightly faking his enthusiasm and I felt like he was never genuine.
