But you rewrote your post so that if it doesn't attain 33.6 MPG, it's not considered fuel efficient. That's just silly. After getting 19-22 MPG in my WRX and 15-18 MPG in my RX8, I appreciate my MX5's 27-30 MPG (~75% spirited driving on hilly, rural roads; ~25% in-town; <1% highway). Quote:
All cars sucks down fuel when you race them. The M3, with its grippier tires, superior suspension/chassis, and much more powerful engine basically idled around the track keeping up with the Prius, which was being flogged on its thin high-MPG tires (if memory serves, both vehicles got approx 17 MPG in that test). The Prius isn't any fun, but it gets 50+ MPG city and 45+ highway with normal driving, doubling or tripling most SUVs. Baby it and you do better. Race it and you do worse. |

The c5 corvettes get decent gas milage rwd 2 door and 350ish hp. All while (probably) beating a ft86 in ANY race and can be found for under 20k with lowish miles all day long. Some of you power hungry people need to look else where... just sayin.

I know it's not a production model yet, but the GRMN Concept car looks like it could be quite fun (RWD) and 1.5L motors would have to be pushed to not get good fuel economy while moving a <2200 lb vehicle. Or is my logic completely off? And yes, I agree that the body on that concept could use a good bit of work.

TechnoPro Spirits MR-S = total badassery. Also raped the Amuse S2000, and an S15 500hp Silvia and an S14 round a circuit.

Cheap, lightweight, RWD, four seats... currently, we can choose 3. If the FT86 gets close to its target weight, we'll get all 4. If acceleration is more important to you than any of those, you're in the wrong forum. |

I think most people on here don't mind ...in fact expect, an authentic, genuinely good NA base model with good dynamics, light weight and economical operation. After that, a turbo model, with why not say 275+hp boosted. Why compromise between both and make entry more expensive so you can feel that you've accomplish something by buying a cheap sports car that other broke people can't afford? |
