OK, I noticed the same voltage rise and fall when I first bought my car. Read this thread and was happy for the info. However, now it's a constant 14+ and never drops. I've been on some half hour long joints down the Highway of Heroes expecting it to drop but it doesn't. So, does my car have a problem or must I go on a three hour cruise? (Remember what happened to the SS Minnow)

Your car doesn't have a problem, the problem is we live in Canada ![]() Below a certain temperature (seems to be around 7-8C), the alternator will keep a constant 14.4V. I'm guessing to make sure the battery is at 100% as much as possible, to prepare for the next cold start. It will also keep a constant 14V if your headlights or the rear defrost is on (and maybe other things I haven't noticed, like heating seats, etc). |
