Ehh there's a loss of hp/tq in the <4k RPM range compared to stock. Probably because it takes awhile for air to pick up speed in that massive piping. Gains on the top end are great but in everyday driving situations people should consider the car will feel more powerful with the stock intake box.
Also, it sucks that this can only be measured on a static dyno. In addition to the open hood remark, there's no mass of air moving with real world velocity into the fascia. The missing variable of external fluid dynamics may yield different results. But it does make for a monstrous centerpiece (raising center of gravity up a microscopic hair?) above all the low-mounted components in the engine bay.

CAIs were losing power, actually. SRIs actually ended up generating more power, for some reason. The BRZ seems to like hotter air. /shrug

I'm just going off of what Injen told me and the fact that Accelerated Performance was able to make the most gains with a SRI, as well.
It was in his intake thread on here, not sure where it is now. EDIT: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showpost.php?p=248570 In this thread he talks about how the CAI had a lot of compromises with it. I, too, prefer CAIs, but this is working well for now.

As far as I know, Injen is the manufacturer and doesn't directly sell the intakes. Orders should be placed through a retailer. I found this page on their site: http://www.injen.com/docs/injen/wheretobuy.asp
Online retailers: http://www.injen.com/docs/other/injenonline.asp?SC=1 Edit: It looks to be around 300 or so, based upon a few pages I saw, like http://www.autoanything.com/air-inta...0A3490247.aspx

From experience with owning a 7th gen Celica, AEM and INJEN have been the primary CAI leaders for this car.
AEM provided a better solution for an un-tuned car without the Apexi Power-FC and provided better low down power with less power at high revs. INJEN however provided the most power up top and also benefited more from a tune. It however had less power down in the low RPM's. This attributed to the fact that the piping size of the AEM was smaller whereas the INJEN was bigger. I guess if you were to include more mods in the future such as full exhaust and tuning, this would be the better option in the end. |

I owned an AEM intake for my old Lancer. The quality was solid but this Injen intake looks amazing. Between that and the fact that I've not seen or heard a word about AEM developing one for this car makes me lean towards Injen. The price is pretty solid as well.
