so we have NO ONE at all who got their brz fixed with P119f and P219a?!!!
i know i am not the only person here on earth with these engine fault codes.

i keep asking the dealership and they always say no brz has had this exact same issue... i really think that's garbage

If they REALLY don't want to sort their heads from their asses, print the TSB and go put it on the service manager's desk. It's not implausible that they haven't see any at that dealership, but that's not a reason for not checking all available repair info.

If their diagnostic guy(s) can't work a computer terminal they've got a serious problem.

86prime, did subaru/dealership perform ecu replacement or fuel injector replacement before they removed your engine and adjust valve clearance?

and your car is a 2018 brz ts?
how long has this been fixed and the engine light hasn't come back so far?

No ECU or fuel injector replacement.

Yes, 2018 BRZ tS. Went in at 1305 miles, now at 4389 miles, so far so good.

then i don't know why in here canada subaru make me go through these steps, first replaced ecu, then replace injectors....

how long did it take to fix the valve clearance?
did they actually lift the engine out to do that?

Because that's Canada.

They had the car for 15 days. They had to pull out the engine.

I just got my car back from the dealership and what they did on my car is change the crankshaft sensor, air/fuel ratio sensor, and air flow meter. I'm not sure if it will come back or not but I will keep you guys updated if anything happens. Same codes P119F and P219A. Also they had my car for about two weeks to try to figure this out.

I was looking into other things on mine And peeked at the codes while I was at it and as I guessed, the return of cooler mornings has made it resurface. P219A was in history/pending :P

Gonna give them a call and see if they've got updated new for me

Captain Obvious question but I'll still ask. Did you get through the whole troubleshooting flow chart? No answers?

As far as P119F/P219A, I've not looked at anything on the car. If I do anything about it it'll be bypassing the whole diagnostic chart and going straight for the valve shims. But I'm not there yet.

The Toyota dealership themselves have done NO diagnostic, after a ridiculous fumbling start, they've punched the DTCs into their system and apparently toronto was like "Don't touch it wait for TSB", or something to that matter, without seeing the actual message on the screen, I'm keeping my grain of salt handy, but if true, that's actually reassuring because IF they're told to wait for updated procedures, it could be assumed that they'll execute those procedures once they are told to, rather than keep the car for two weeks and throw parts at it that would have taken less than an hour like they did for datty up there.

As for what is published, that's where things get weird. I use Mitchell ProDemand at work and there is nothing published for those codes under Toyota, no TSB either. It's a different case when looking for a Subaru BRZ. Even Toyota's TIS service is ambiguous. I subscribed for 3 days and the codes were documented and reflected the up-to-date information from Subaru. I've still got the printout and back then, the current version was dated 06-08-2018. But when I recently went to a different dealership (where I actually bought it) for a window scratching on the guides, I asked them if they could look up any info on those faults, and what they printed from their TIS login did NOT reflect the up-to-date procedure, their documentation did NOT instruct to check valve lash. BTW, the rip of the TIS website in your signature is NOT up-to-date either.

long story short, it's a biiiiiiiiig clustertruck.

But I think my outlook on this situation is kind of skewed: I've got access to diagnostic information services, I've worked with extended warranties so I understand that you can't just tear into something willy nilly before getting the OK from higher up, I've seen how the diagnostic info seems to be all over the place, probably through the fault of no one specific person and ultimately, I know that if I get pissed off about it, I can sort it out myself in a weekend.

So I'm rather mellow about all of it.

Damn, I JUST bought this car 2 weeks ago. 2018 BRZ base (demo) with 16k km. Not sure what the manufacturing date was but in-service was May 2018.

It's got both the P119F and P219A codes. Dealer has been looking at the whole day and are waiting to hear back from Subaru corporate.

I was leaving work (ie: sitting out in the cold for 9 hours). Let it go through the high idle at the very beginning before I took off. Drove pretty lightly as the coolant gauge had barely moved up. It came on when I had to come to a sudden stop (not an ABS triggering stop but enough to make some tire noise). Didn't stall. Weather was dry but a probably around -10C that day.

Anyone have any updates after if it came back after getting it fixed?
