Considering 17x8 +45 RPF1s, and the Gramlights 57CR +38. My twin has the Eibach Pro kit and whiteline camber bolts up front, and the SPC LCAs in the back. How will these two wheels fit? Which will be more flush? Will either present an issue of rubbing or low clearance? Any information is appreciated. I have searched for quite some time but have not found answers that relate to my setup. Thank you.

Also do you have a tire brand preference or recommendation?
Tire specs including wheel widths can be found at tirerack.com
Both 235/40-18 and 245/35-18 fit on wheel widths ranging from 8" to 9.5", so not at all stretched on 9".
IMO 245/35 is the better fitment because it is very close to stock tire diameter at 24.8" (24.7" stock). 235/40 is more than a half inch bigger in diameter at 25.4".

I don't have a brand preference. All the major name-brands make some excellent tires, and they make some crap tires so specific make/model of tire is important. What are your wants/needs/usage? Street only, or some autoX or track usage? Any possibility you may have to drive in cold/snow/ice? Need to get a lot of miles out of a set of tires or is max grip more important?

Short answer is the 57CR will fit better. You won't have any rubbing issues that you can't fix with your range of adjustment. Tire choice does have an influence on fitment, of course.

Remember, high offset, such as +45 sinks inward. Lower offset pokes outward.

FYI RPF1 is also available in 17x8 +35
+35 offset will allow more negative camber via camber bolts up front. 225/45-17 on 17x8 +35 shouldn't be any problem at all. More "flush" vs. +45 which is close to stock offset of +48, pretty sunk-in.

So I just made a trip up to a local shop a few family members have used religiously. The guy's recommendation was to do 225/35 instead of 235/40 or 245/35.

What do you guys think? As previously stated, I'm looking to go low on coilovers. Wheels are 18x9 +33.

I'm going for form over function, but I also want to make sure I don't endanger myself to the point where I slide in the rain and risk endangering others on the road with me.

I think his recommendation is a hard pass- 225/35 on a 9" wheel? If you want a stretch look then sure by all means. Honestly get the 245/35 or even 255/35 since you want form over function

That's what I was thinking, but I obviously wanted to see someone else's thoughts on the recommendation.

I'm looking at Hankook Ventus as an option in 245/35r18.

I just wanted to make sure I'd be able to fit the wheel within the fender with a bit of camber. I'm really against poke, and I know I'm gonna be fighting it with the front wheels, but I also know camber bolts will help with it.

Any other suggestions please let me know. This forum has been very helpful.

225/35-18 fits on 7.5" up to 9" wide wheels, so that's fine. It is a half inch shorter than stock at 24.2". A big drawback is tire selection. Tire Rack only has three tires in that size...
225/40-18 might be a better choice. Also fits on 7.5" to 9", a little taller than stock at 25.1".

There are *17* different "Hankook Ventus" tires at Tire Rack, including race tires, low-perf all-season tires, truck/SUV tires, etc. Need to go by the *complete* tire name. That said they only show two in that size, the "Ventus V12 Evo2" Max Perf street tire and the "Ventus Z214" track tire, presumably you're looking at the first one!
Whatever tire you consider, do yourself a favor and check Tire Rack customer survey and also, more importantly, tire test results before you buy:

I think 245/35-18 will work with max front camber. 225/40-18 another option, but wheels would be more susceptible to curbing...

Again, I'm a total noob when it comes to tires, but quick question: What on earth is the difference between a 245/35 tire and a 225/40 tire? Does the 245 or 225 refer to the width? So the lower the width the more "stretch"?

Thanks again for the help. It sounds like 245/35 is the way to go, assuming it fits.

I think you should look through this it will answer your questions. http://www.justtires.com/content/con...eName=TireSize

Yes the 245 and 225 are the width. The 245/35 will fit nicely i doubt there would be any issues.

I have test fit 18x9 +32 with 245/35/18. I am lowered 1" and have -1.4 front camber from prokit springs and camber bolts. (bolts not maxed) The fit looks good to me...

I want to run normal tires. I don't need anything incredibly sticky, just something to get me to work and back. Will this be available to me?

Do you have any pictures of the side of your car? Trying to get an idea of the whole look.
