To over simplify it. The % difference between FD ratios will be the same percentage increase in acceleration but only to the top of each gear. Then once it shifts it loses time/power shifting/dropping in power band. It will also be the same percentage difference in the top speed of each gear and the increased rpm at any given gear. (With 10% higher ratio 2500 rpm at 60mph becomes 2750 at 60)

For example say a car with a FD of 4.0 and hits rev limit in 2nd at 70mph in 7.5sec (63mph in 7sec) and 3rd at 100mph in 14.5sec (90mph in 13.5sec)
The same car with a 4.4 FD will rev limit in 2nd at 63mph and 3rd at 90mph (10% less) however it should theoretically get to 63mph 10% faster then the 4.0FD would get to 63mph. So 63mph in 6.3sec and 90mph in 12.15seconds) but the time spent shifting and being lower in powerband will make the 4.4 slower to 70 and slower to 100.
The exact amounts vary by weather conditions, wind resistance, tire grip and other variables.
Basically decide what you are using your car for and then choose FD ratio based on that.

I think the 4.3:1 ratio is ideal compromise for fast road and track driving, that's why Toyobaru chose it, but in the roads where I drive the 4.56:1 is more suitable, many corners, mountain roads etc perfectly mated to the BRZ/GT86 character.
Is the torque what this car needs more than the absolute power, IMHO, and this is the area where the closer final drive shines!

The new TMG cars are favoring the 4.3 fd ratio with an additional change of the 6th gear to a shorter ratio. Before this change they were favoring the 3.767 fd. They were doing a special car import from Toyota Japan and one reason was this. You can't really have an optimal solution by just changing the fd ratio. It is all about compromise. You have a TMG VIN correct? Contact TMG and check about the 6th gear change and if they can send the parts to you. If yes and if you trust someone to open your transmission, then you can also change to a 4.3 fd. You'll still have compromises in the other gears, but at least not that many compromises!

you can still get the FD alone without the 6th gear if you want to do so. however, you will need a TMG account to have access on their SP list. the FD has nothing to do with the gear. its your choice to change or not.

I hate that "you will need TMG account/VIN" (or similar way to parts of some limited-run twins of (IIRC)RS#.#/grmin and alikes, where one at best can hunt some unofficial way to order from china or alike). There are parts/products. There might be demand from customers. WHY not sell anybody that want to buy those?

Most ppl with the 4.3 isn't gonna upgrade to a 4.56 or more. you should look at junk yard instead of waiting for that 1 out of 10000 owner to swap their diff out.

I been waiting to pick up one for like a year already.

Thanks, I tried to contact them in the past, I find new 4.3 or 4.56 final drive kits at reasonable price but wonder if someone sells his factory one cheap...
