Also I find it hard to agree that the G35 and G37 are a step closer to legit Skylines consider they are marketed as luxury 1st kind of car and that deff wasnt what it was all about back then. Skylines are not copies of Z and that is exactly what the G series is
I understand that the G coupe was a 300 pound fatter brother of the 350z....But don't complain to me, Nissan is the one that branded it as such in Japan.

As far as legends go, I don't know how much abou the resemblance there was between the Original Skyline and the Datsun 510. But I would say(from what I know) that the Datsun 510 is more of a legend than the skyline.

510 is somewhat of legend... but you're missing S50 series specially S54. Bored G-7 engine and it was busting over 100hp (instead of single carb, it was triple carb!) along w LSD. iirc S54 was competing w Porsche 904 in JGP and was managed to ranked 2nd to 6th places. Now that's pretty legend imo.

S57's engine was claim to be most powerful engine in Japanese 1.5L class (back then).

Branding is one thing but I think most enthusiast don't accept it as a Skyline.

I don't know too much about the 510 history but the Skyline is pretty legendary.

For the Japanese Touring Car Championship (group a) the Skyline won every race it was in taking the title 4 consecutive times

In the N1 Super Taikyu (group n) it won 50 races out of 50 races during its 6 year run.

I mean the name Godzilla came from its dominance of the group A class. It was the monster from Japan that was making all the other cars look bad this includes another legendary car the Ford Sierra Cosworth

I would love to hear about why the 510 is a legend as I don't know too much about it other than I've seen a sr20 510 and it was fassttt

Problem is that..that dominance and Godzilla nick name was brought on by the Skyline GTR...and not the skyline vehicle line. I don't believe that anyone would call the ER34 Skyline, Godzilla. GT-R has a larger influence over those legendary heritage than Skyline.

As a whole, the 510 and fairlady have a larger legendary legacy than the skyline. But the car that wears the GT-R Badge is the true destroyer.

It wasn't until the late 80s to the 90s when Skyline and GTR were synonymous for performance. leaving out the other Family sedan trims and RWD coupe, even the Skyline Wagon aka stagea was overshadowed.

I've been out of the mix so long I don't even know who organizes the current drift events. It used to be SEDA. I did hear about drift nights at the Nashville Fairground's track though, using the infield.

Yeah TNDrift organizes the ones down at the Fairgrounds. They do them at NSS now too. They aren't as organized as SEDA, but I guess they get the events done which is what counts. Are you on Tennspeed.net? Check out the Motorsports section for local and southern region events.

Middle TN would be Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Lebanon, Colombia...etc.

And +1, he didn't look Asian to me either.

What? The air in CA is very good, unless you're talking about LA. Psh Norcal ftw.

Air ain't the only factor in why CA sucks.

Here I can get a 3 story 5 bedroom home sitting on 10 acres of land for the price of a 2bd room condo in CA.

Here I can get pulled over by a cop in my modded and boosted car and have the cop compliment me and just tell me to slow it down a little without popping my hood and issuing me a fix it ticket for aftermarket parts.

Here I can roll up next to a cop with my loud exhaust, spool my turbo right next to him and have the BOV sound off, and he waves and gives me a thumbs up.

Here I can roll down the freeway and not worry about being on the 6 O'clock news seeing my car smashed up because some moron was involved in a high speed chase with the entire PD. There is a reason CA implemented the 3 Strikes rule...lol

Try that shit in CA and see what happens.

Norcal air is great, it's Socal that's hazy from all the smog. Only bad things about California are the stupid gas prices and is CARB, and how we get a different set of emission rules from the rest of the 49 states. It's a great place to own a car otherwise. No salt to rust up and destroy the underside, no need for snow tires or storing your car for the winter.
