It's more important to figure out why the corrosion set in so quickly and so hard that the nuts seized. Both oem and arp use decent materials and are well plated. There's something sketchy about that combination of lug and nut to set up that kind of galvanic corrosion.

I think an impact driver might be more gentile if you have one, counterintuitive as it might be. It should wear on the threads a bit (causing them to be slightly looser) before snapping the lug.
I'll defer to some of the more experienced folks if they disagree. |

Sadly I only have electric impact gun that’s really weak. It’s v12 battery, so I barely screw it on & prob tq down bout 20~40 ftp/tq, so no way it’ll unscrew this seized lugnuts.

Smells like burnt popcorn/metal/something in my apartment. Walked outside a half hour ago because I heard large trucks outside and people on radios. Apparently the next Victorian style apartment building over had some issue where people left food on the burning stove.

I tried to see I can work on tighting rest of the bolts & see shop can bust all of em off... I mean fix em. Well that plan didn’t go as I wanted. Bust one more stud & other 3 are just keep spinning... that mean, end part is stripped or I’ve stripped the hub... either way I’ll need to tow my car AND get it fixed... which equals to more money. All I wanted to do was just change the front brake pads.

![]() I reckon I tried to tell ya a few posts back: "Welp, since your recent discovery, I'd suggest you take your car up to a local tire shop and ask them to replace all the studs on your wheels." Sometimes, it just don't "pay" to try to save money. I recall the time I was going to save the company some money by replacing the burner unit on a hot water heater in the basement of a house I was using for an office on an agricultural research station. Yep, replaced the burner, charged the system, lit that sucker and BAM! - it blew itself to smithereens and singed my hair! From that time on, I just call in a professional, when a gas appliance acts up …. ![]() humfrz |
