does this affect the performance of the motor? could it be possibly hurting the motor or maybe running lean because of the lack of lubrication on fuel system?
Its actually adds 25 more horses.
So don't worry about it

Csaba,

The part in heavy print was copied from another forum, not sure I could find it again? So it's not my car, my 86 is on order.
I posted it here, i'm in Oz, because it seemed to be the problem and made sense. If it is the problem then a bit of 2 stroke oil in the fuel might fix the noise until they modify the pump for your fuel. Not 1-20 or 1-50 as in a 2 stroke, just a light amount of say 1-500 might shut it up.
1-200 makes a diesel run much quieter, with better power and economy.
After all, 2T oil is a lubricant designed to be added to gasoline and there isn't enough lubricant in the US fuel.

Here's the link.

http://www.fr-sforum.com/forums/fr-s...-problems.html

FRS direct injection fule pump problems.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up. I had to replace this pump today due to the fact it was making a loud chriping noise almost like a wet drive belt. The toyota reps came out to my work and listened to it. It only happens once the temp gets to around 140f. They explained it to me as follows. The pump has a washer inside of it which if not lubercated properly it will make that noise. They said that Japan gas is way better and has more lub in it the USA gas. SO the usa gas casued the washer to not be lubed properly. There is no known fix or TSB for this. i got a new pump but keep your ears open so you can catch it and report it. Its not a preformance issue jsut an annoying sound thats all. Hope this helps.

Thank very much for your reply , its OK. Don't worry finding it,
I don't have the car yet but I'm all over it ,I do like to buy one soon, and reading a lot on this forum , and see how people like it and if there any issues .
I do hope they find the solution to the few problems.
Thanks again.

I just see you did thanks

I have an update on this issue. I received a call on Mon. A.M. from a rep with SNE asking about the noise, and the attempted repair with the idler pulley. He asked for a video clip to be submitted to the service dept. so that a E-QMR could be started, with video (and audio) attached.

Un-frickin-believably, my car hasn't chirped at all this week. It was quite a consistent noise since day one. Only thing I can cite as a change is that I bought fuel from Shell station this weekend (V-power 93oct) which I don't usually. I'm also racking up some mileage (at 3550 right now)

I will update when (or if) the crickets start chirping again.

Anybody else had the noise conspicuously go away ??

Need to drive the car (reasonably spirited) and get it up to temp. Mine never makes the noise until after 15-20 minutes of aggressive driving.

We have been speculating different fuel from different gas station makes a difference. I've been using Shell 93 V power since I got the car and mine still makes noise. I do know different region of the country have different fuel additives from the same company.

Are u saying that after changing the idler pulley the chirping noise went away?

No, that was a fail Guess you'd have to go back a few pages in this thread to know that.

Mine does this too once the engine warms up! Rather Annoying but I can wait till they make a fix as long as its not causing problems with anything else.

**Problem Solved** Flux Capacitor was replaced no more Chrip.
(Sorry just had to with all the speculation going on lol)
