I disagree that is fine for the most part cause at least here you can have spirited driving in mountain roads whenever you want while ambient temps the summer are quite often above 40+C degrees!

I can't see even one reason to have a non ILSAC 0W20 rather a good 5W30, most cars already have aftermarket filters exhaust and remap which degrades more the oil (dust, increased engine heat), what is your gain, lubricity, temperatures, engine protection, economy or what?
Don't tell me about factory recommendations cause I'll answer you stay with factory exhaust and maps...

The weather in my region can vary from below zero to over 40C. My car is not driven everyday. So if I can get away with 0W20 for hot weather too I don't have to switch weights back and forth depending on the seasons.

Just changed the factory filled Subaru 0W20 oil in my BRZ MY18 after 1050kms, last few days it had a "tappety" noise when cold that couldn't explain where it came from.
I changed to Redline 5W30 and the noise has gone immediately, probably the factory oil was to thin for my driving style - ambient temps (~30C those days), plus I see now slightly lower oil temps during heavy load.
In every case I am not going to use again 0W20 although most of you believe the opposite, this is my personal experience from other Subarus until now none of them has had engine problems at least in my hands!

it should not make any noise after that little mileage. I'd at least talk to the dealer to document it just in case it means big issues ahead.
