First paint scuff!

Man, what is it about new cars? Yesterday I was driving down a city street and out of no where comes a piece of cardboard that was lifted up and blown my way by the car in the lane next to me.

The piece was about 24" square. I did a jink to the left and thought I missed it. Well today I went to the store and coming out the sun was shining directly on the right side of the car and I saw a small smudge along the lower part of the passenger door.

Looking closer I realized it must have been the card board piece ever so slightly brushing against the paint on the door. It also left a small line/scuff along the quarter panel in front of the right rear tire.

Bummer...went home and wiped it all down with water and took some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax-red bottle to it. Removed most of it. Now I can only see it in direct light and only if you look right at it. If I never showed it to anyone they probably would never notice. It is in the surface of the clear coat so I'm sure a detailing pro could remove the rest of it.

Years ago this would have really bugged me but I guess with age (57) comes maturity and now I realize its only a car.

I have a one up:

In a rush to get to the store, swing into a parking spot, pull too far in and scraped the underside of my front lip. No one will see it unless they lie down and look under it, but I will forever know it's there.

All of my rage.

I had a close call on the toll road at 90 mph, in which a semi trailer lost his blind spot front mirror. It felt like it came within inches but it probably was 5 to 10 feet. It got my blood pumping tho...

I have a small, maybe half inch long, crescent shaped chip in the paint on the hood. Got it THE SAME DAY I took the car home. FML.

Last Friday, I got too close to a curb and scraped the "point" on the drivers side of the front bumper along with bending the bumper slightly and was in a very narrow and curved exit to a parking garage and curbed the passenger front wheel. I followed it up on Sunday by getting a $300 ticket for going 10 over on the highway.

The underside of my front bumper is missing paint due to me pulling out of a parking lot too quickly and scraping across the pavement. Can't see it unless you're lying down in front of the car, but it still irks me!

Everytime I see a Kool car, I lie down and look at it from the underside.

It's amazing what you will discover.

Try hitting a 9-point buck on the interstate within a month of taking delivery (wife's Forester XT). Sigh...

As much as we'd like them to stay pristine, they're cars and were meant to be driven, so you take what life throws your way, shrug, and move on.

if it's a scuff try rubbing it off using tooth paste. saw it recommended on another forum and it worked!

It's just a car, one meant to be "used" at that. Bummer but now you don't have to freak out when you get the next blemish.

Maybe for you guys with scrapped front underside bumpers, you should get a skidplate mounted to the underside. That's what my buddy did with his Ferrari
His is made of delrin.
