This guy made a small circuit that keep the radio powered 3 seconds after the ignition is turn off. So it give time to press the push-start button a second time to return to accesories, before the radio shut down.

I ran a 12v acc wire to my stereo from the battery with a switch. I can turn my stereo on without my key. Yes I can kill the battery, but I can also sit in my car with the door open and listen to the stereo without the car dinging or the fuel pump on.

I understand the dealership can program my car to not ding with the door open. But, that involves going to the dealership...

Gentlemen this is what I do when I turn off the car but still want the radio playing.
I leave the car in Drive or neutral, and press the ignition button. I'm pressing the brake to hold the car still of course. Hand brake can be used as well.
The car shuts off but power is still being supplied to the head unit.
Then I shift into park.
The head unit will still be powered till I press the ignition button again, at which point it will turn off.
I use this method when I just parked while listening to a radio program and do not want to miss anything.

So, apparently, the answer is: get an Automatic?
