(You can pay my psychoanalysts fee later.) I actually prefer this type of minivan since I'm obviously not as flamboyant as you..... [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vXp7XOpH1I"]450hp Turbo Minivan beats GTR and Viper - YouTube[/ame] I don't care about wings, paint jobs, wide wheels, loud exhausts, lowered bodies, etc. Just give me performance.... |

I did miss listed the Sienna which does come close but is still not the speed demon you said ALL minivans are.

It feels better because it's hydraulic, but not better being a slower rack with a truck sized steering wheel by today's standard.
To get the 13 to 1 ratio quick steering rack from STI a long time ago was a couple thousand dollar option in Japan. Add a small steering wheel into the mix and power assist becomes necessary for a daily. Sports cars like the BRZ just don't feel as connected as ones from 25+ years ago regardless of price.

Just before buying the BRZ, I drove a 74 TR6 in really good condition. It was rough and felt like a bucket of bolts compared to any new sports car, i.e., it brought back memories. If better handling, more precise steering, better seats, and better suspension is seen as less "connected", then I'm not sure I understand the term.... Last edited by rvoll; 04-30-2018 at 05:35 PM. |

My van does 0-60 in 6.8 and the 1/4 in 15.3, so you better bring your A game when it comes to shifting, lol.........But that's not the point.
With a 5,400 + curb weight and 0.60 skid pad, the van would be well in the rear view mirrors in any situation that would count. If someone purchased a twin for stop light to stop light street cred they are the one that needs some help. |

That said, I totally agree that a twin is NOT a dragster by any stretch of the imagination.... |

The raw acceleration numbers don't mean much to how it feels on the street. All those minivans have automatics and getting maximum acceleration is as simple as stomping the throttle and keeping pointed away from and solid objects. It seems most Twins are sold as manuals with a significant portion sold to first time manual transmission drivers. Unless your skilled enough, and showy enough, to slip the clutch and keep the RPMs over the torque dip your gonna be slower than the minivan.
Published acceleration numbers are produced by abusing the car....significantly more destructive with a stick than a 'smoosh your foot' automatic. |

I should have clarified. I meant at launch. You need to avoid the torque dip at launch or you're "slow". Other than that, I agree with you.

Its a freaking van, it drives like a freaking van. That's my point, if you buy a twin for stoplight to stoplight action you are using a saw for a hammer. |
