Brake package prices for 86 platform?

I've been looking into brake packages for my FRS for awhile, and there's something really bugging me, why do the 86 platforms seem to have the most expensive brake kits out there? I've been looking around and it's usually at minimum $3000/axel for a kit of Brembo, Muse, or something similar, but looking at the same products for other cars, (Mustang, Genesis, 350z) You can get a solid setup for $1200/axel. Am I looking in the wrong places or is there a serious premium for a BBK for the 86?

Rotors are pretty worn, and was planning an upgrade rather than a straight replacement, I do autocross like twice a year so I'm not hurting for a BBK, but it would have been good for aesthetics. And it's not like I'm looking at cheap brands for other cars, the Brembo kit for a Genesis is almost $1800 cheaper

The same BBK I have on my car is 800 more for the Genesis. Are you looking at good quality kits, or maybe just pad and rotor combo's?

I'm not sure what you're talking about? It seems like the BBKs for the 86 platform are roughly the same cost or cheaper than on most other platforms. As a simple comparison It's $1915 for a Brembo GT front BBK for the 86 platform on FT-86 Speed Factory and $4350 for a Brembo GT front BBK for the Genesis Coupe on GC Tuner. Another quick comparison it's $1555 for a Wilwood 6R front BBK on FT-86 Speed Factory and $1695 for a Wilwood 6R front BBK for a Genesis Coupe on GenRacer.

I didn't dig deep here, but I don't see anything online that would indicate that BBKs for the 86 platform are especially expensive compared to any other platform. What are you looking at and where are you looking at buying it from?

If you want to keep stock calipers and rotors take a look at the Powerstop "Track Day" pads. I have tried several different pads and like these the best. Plenty of stopping power on track and no fade after 20 minute sessions, but still quiet enough for street use.

Most affordable BBK designed for our cars that doesn't completely screw up brake bias are the RR Racing kits.

The SP 4pot kit is available for about ~$800 and the stage 2 6pot kit is available for ~$1000. USD of course. Note that these kits are cobbled together with standardised parts (STI rotor and standard Wilwood caliper) so they aren't ideal but that is why they're so cheap.



Note the rust ring on the inside, that is because the pads don't touch that part of the rotor.

Also, they aren't ideal for bias although not so far off that it's a problem. Finally, they don't have dust boots so they aren't ideal for street driving.

Get the Wilwood kit for a 03+ WRX. You save SIXTEEN pounds of unsprung weight PER CORNER. Some people are going to jump in and give BS of how it isn't designed for our car, but if it will stop a car that is 500 pounds heavier it will work great on our lightweight cars. Bias is maintained to within a couple percent and you are autocrossing, not high speed tracking. It is bolt on and costs $1000.

I second this. Good pads for track. The stock brakes with good pads and fluid and SS lines and you're good to go. New rotors are cheap and you don't need drilled \slotted.
