Track-Only HPDE Brake Pad recommendations. Stock platform/calipers/rotors - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I thought about it a little... and, I think I will be better off to just get track-only pads only for use when I actually go to the track, versus using a hybrid "street & track" pad and using it for both DD and occasional track. I will just switch off and replace my oem pads to track-pads at home, the night before track day and only use them at the track (and, of course, driving to and from the track). It's super easy enough to switch pads and bleed the night b4 anyways.

I think this plan would be better, since high performance hybrid dd/track pads have too much dust and squealing for a daily street car (I've used porterfields on my old EG and S13 back in the day) and at the same time wont have as much performance/capability as a track specific pad. Also, I honestly don't need crazy amounts of brake power or brake fade resistance for a daily driver, lol. Stock pads are more than sufficient for the DD.

So that said, I decided I will just use oem or mild performance pads for the streets/DD; and, for the track, I will use track/race-specific/only pads.

So...can you recommend me some pads that will fit my needs - track/race-specific? It'll be on stock calipers and stock (size) rotors.

Looking forward to see what people will say. We always recommend the following brake pads for track use:

Carbotech XP12 F/R
Carbotech XP10 F/R (newer drivers)
Project Mu Club Racer F/R
Project Mu 999 F/R (experienced drivers)
Winmax W6 F/R
Winmax W7 F/R (experienced drivers)

I quote experienced drivers, because they are actually better than their respective brethren, however, a more experienced driver can take advantage of them better than the novice driver.

Last time i was at Barber I used:

Centric Blank Rotors
Carbotech XP10 Pads
RBF600 Fluid
Stoptech Stainless Lines
Grimmspeed Master Brake Cylinder Brace

The car ran double-duty in 2 classes (with 2 drivers). The brakes felt phenomenal all day long. Never a hint of fade. The pads are super noisy on the street so i switch back to Carbotech Bobcat's on the street.

Aren't 999 hard to get and/or considerably more expensive than the other XP12 W7 doh? (Or at least from what I've quickly searched)

Considerably more expensive? Yes. Does everyone who try them universally agree that it's worth the extra cost? Yes. Are they difficult to get? Yes, if you don't know that we stock them. I believe we're the only North American vendor that stocks them.

If you're asking about track pads, I'd recommend you start with something lesser; XP10 and Club Racers are the popular choices, but we have a Winmax group buy going right now...

Like others have mentioned: Carbotech FTW. I would call them and tell them about your experience level and car/mods and they are usually spot on with their recommendation of compound to use.

I'm going for PFC 08 pads. Just ordered them from OG Racing.

Front 0929.08.17.44
Rear 1124.08.16.44

They should last longer than the Carbotechs and pretty much everything else. They don't have super high bite, but they have a lot of bite and you can drive them home from the track.

They're being used in race series in Japan and the UK. They're also big in the Porsche Car Club.

I wrote a review in the review thread. Overall I am happy with the choice. They feel good and don't wear much. Just don't put super grabby pads on the back like I did.
