It's not as fast as a Mustang GT, granted. But I hardly think 332hp pushing 3300 lbs is slow.
That is interesting. All my friends who have 370s say they rattle a ton and burn oil like there is no tomorrow. They have also complained a lot about the transmission.

Kind of a pity, because the two cars I was most excited about in high school were the 300ZX twin turbo and the Mark IV Supra. I also loved the design and Lund of the G35 coupe, but I absolutely hate the tail of the 350/370.

I'm definitely curious to hear your impressions after driving it for a while. You mentioned wanting to boost it -- do you have a rough hp/weight target?

I sat and figured this all out a while ago... going with my own personal 10 hp/lb preferred minimum it needs about 70 more at the crank, or a gain of about 35%.

Be interesting to see where various kits put it relative to that criterion...

Sounds like you bought a boat anchor with wheels if you ask me

That is a lot of talk comparing two cars that don't have many things in common. How can you cross shop a 370z and FR-S/BRZ? Ballin

I'm aiming for >10whp/lb. So it looks like i'll be needing about 100 extra whp. But to get in my Nismo 370's stock range it will need 235whp which is a 70whp increase. I feel like we might get extremely lucky with full blown bolt-ons and tune and might squeeze out 40whp. The car would need about 215whp to equal a bone stock non-Nismo 370Z in terms of power-to-weight ratio. All in all, my bare minimum has been set to 235whp but I'm aiming for 265whp+; which should be solved by a turbo kit running average boost levels. I'm just slightly worried about the compression. Barely tested turbo's + high compression = blown motors

We had this discussion a couple of days ago. There are some available in Ohio.

I kind of regret not waiting before buying a new car. I believed the HYPE about nothing being available

To add to my own post, my buddy had a low boost SR20 S14 for a little while, that thing pulled nicely and EASILY drifted with no lack of power at ~215whp and his car weighed the same as the FR-S. So 50whp would put a lot of people in a better mood.

News to me. 350Z's burned oil, and a couple of the lemoned 370z's did. Most of the Z owners I interact with on a regular basis have no oil issues, except for 2009-2011 Z's that didn't come with a stock oil cooler. If you cane the car in high heat or at a track with no oil cooler, you will hit limp mode so that the engine doesn't become damaged. But that issue can be addressed with a 400 dollar oil cooler and an afternoon of turning wrenches.

I've heard complaints about the notchiness of the tranny, the feel, but not the reliability.

Because if you have 32,000 dollars to spend on a car, you can buy a brand new Z, Mustang, or FRS/BRZ.

For 26k, you can get in a lightly used 370z.

Guess that's baller status?

Edit: Oh wait, you're Canadian. Canadian Z's come only with sport and touring packages, driving up their price a bit. American Z's start cheaper.

Lol, my Nismo once consumed 5 quarts in a 3 month period. Needless to say, it was sold shortly thereafter. I also did not enjoy the shifting AT ALL. The notchiness was bad, the feel was bad, but I did like that you could FEEL the transmission through the shifter. Made it feel like it was actually a driver's car. There were a few times where I grinded into 2nd because of the notchiness. I wouldn't be surprised to see people burning through their synchros after a couple years or so.

Good Lord. I've had my Z for two years, I drive it very aggressively. I haven't had a single issue. Most of my friends are in the same boat.

Same, mine had about 285whp stock but ate through oil like a fat kid through cake. None of anyone I knew with a 370, which is like 10-15 people here, had an issue with oil.

Some 350z's had issues with oil consumption, some early 370z's had oil temp issues when pushed too hard...

So whats your point most first year production have some kind of issues like the fr-s have chirping noise just right after the 300miles usage which turned out to be a bad fuel pump.
