I'd beg to differ on a slow experience with my 2017 AT GT86. I have a Delicious Tuned Edelbrock SC with everything running stock. The FD is still 4.1 like the older models, but I've clocked roughly 5.2sec 0-60.
The manual paddleshifts are FAST.. compared to a manual, I'd say they're really close to each other's performance. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I find that to be a double edged sword, but then again the sweet spot to downshifting (let's say 3rd to 2nd @ 50mph which is around 3.5k RPM is matched to 5.5k RPM) With the Edelbrock SC being a highly efficient P/D blower, I've trained my body to ready myself for that surge in torque whenever that happens. All in all, I gotta admit - the Dual Clutch Tranny in a boosted AT GT86 is badass Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I meant to say the AT Manual shifts FEEL like a dual clutch automatic response like how the R35 GTRs and VW GTIs operate. They have a similar feeling IMO

The AT does shift very fast but you can shift just as fast in the MT. We are splitting hairs here but I wouldn’t be surprised if a flat shift in the MT is actually faster. Flat shifts beat the hell out of the syncros though. If you think the MT shifts slow then you need new friends. Hahaha |

Drop a turbo in your AT car and call it day. You have the longer gearing for it, and you'll probably enjoy it a lot more than you did before.
With an MT.....you've probably already enjoyed it as much to begin with(; |

It is really funny and sad at the same time how a simple question could generate 2 pages without one single relevant reply. I didn't ask for turbo, about speed of shifting, what is faster and definitely not if Camry is faster.
The question was: why - and even if - AT drops power at hi-rpm, and where the AT loses power when the transmission is locked. It was a genuine technical question. |
