Listen carefully for that sound coming from the bell housing area.

Yeah I tried that just now and I started to hear popping and a rotten egg smell and stopped. Got about half way out on the clutch pedal.. didn’t want to keep going.

And I’m getting an audible rattle with the pedal out. Stops when I press it.

Popping and rotten egg smell, that just sounds like an exhaust leak, and probably in the header or close to it (the closer to the block, the more pops you will get). The smell is what the exhaust gasses smell like without a catalytic so that might also tell you where its coming from.

Lmao. Well shit. I wasn’t sure how slow or fast lol

Car drove fine on the way home.. the clutch or gear rattle went away after it completely warmed up. I reckon it’s there to stay though. Another trip to the dealership I suppose....

Starting to think I’m not meant to have a MT anymore.

The popping was from something rotating in the bell housing I believe.

I’m so stressed out about this that I don’t even want to drive the car right now...

Humfrz, quit giving clutch-burning lessons.

Brett, I never heard back from you on your first thread. I was dead serious about the whoosh sound. The first time I heard it was when a friend and I swapped cars to get a feel for our respective mods.

I was so disturbed by it that I pulled into a parking lot and popped the hood. My friend circled back around and saw me leaned over his engine, listening. I think he laughed when I said with some urgency that I thought he had some sort of huge vacuum leak. Right away he said that it was just his header.

I've heard it many times since then and I have to remind myself that it's normal.

I suggest you hang out in your regional section and make friends with someone that runs the same stuff. That will ease your worry.

My bad, Brett. Finally started getting my threads mixed up.

Can you get us a recording? Doesn't have to be perfect, just enough to hear it.

Last March, had it double checked for leaks. The noise I’m hearing starting around the end of October.

Ya just trying to get a time line on the different symptoms. It is getting confusing at this point as to exactly what happened when.
