+1 on leaving the ride height alone. I hit a big raccoon just a few weeks back, no damage, couldn't even find hair jammed up anywhere. I straight up cleared a skunk shortly after I bought the car. I am not sure how big woodchucks get in your area, but the ones I see wouldn't be any worse than the raccoon I hit - and 2" of clearance won't help you against a deer.

How big would a woodchuck chuck so a woodchuck would struck hood?

First off, understand that I have tremendous respect for you guys and the knowledge you have and share. I truly appreciate it! But is the “car guy” an extinct species? For your consideration: a vehicle is like a relationship. Youll have to give in some places to get something from a different place. Somewhere between the drag strip and the road course is a happy medium. The vega was over the top quick and the brz is over the top handling. I don’t want a drag car or a rally car. Id like a nice peppy street car. If you think that putting vinyl on your roof makes you a car modder, then technically youd be correct. However, I plan to evolve with my car over many years to come. I think that saying a brz cant be a quick little hot rod might not be giving it the credit it deserves. I could be completely wrong here. I have not gotten the car yet. But maybe, just maybe, the brz will be the perfect starting point for me. I agree the body lift better wait. I do need to start REAL mods somewhere. I understand a supercharged fa20 is not a torque monster. That’s fine. 300 to 350 hp is nothing to sneeze at though. Any thoughts?

Wasn't trying to say your goal was bad but simply you will never match all aspects of the Vega. The plan to evolve it is the best. I went into the car with all sorts of FI plans from what I had read and then promptly threw all those plans away once I started driving it.

Anyone Go Offroading in their BRZ/FRS?

Fill yer boots.
It's *not* wrong, only different.
Mine's been stock since new, but that's the direction I'd go rather than hard parking.

Taller tires (larger diameter) will play hob with your speedo-meter.
(know where you are *or* how fast, but not both) oh, wait...

Forester XT would be a blast. I was thinking about a vintage 2005 for my dog to the lake on weekends fun. we had a XS non turbo version we just traded in. Thought about keeping it for this duty but it was too tired. Needed lots of work

LOL! Me too! IMO the Rocket Bunny kit is gratuitous, since a 285 fits on a stock body. But this picture of the kit makes sense!

The low CG helps keep this car reasonable. I've been at the wheel on numerous back roads and fields, and in the passenger seat for quite a few rallyx's.

It does well.

It's currently on flatout coilovers, about 1" up with 16" wheels and Grabber AT2's.

My opinion, grab the [S]Showa[/S] Chuhatsu lift spring kit and see what you think. If you want a bit more, grab the 3/8" ADF spacers and have Patrick send you longer studs for the rear tophats. Go 1" if you really want it, but you shouldn't need it with both.

That said, you're still lifting a car that benefits from lowering. Handling WILL suffer. If you're cool with it and that's what you want to make payments on, then do it, enjoy the heck out of it, and if you're happy (and it's safe,) who cares.

These are fun cars, in part because they are a decent platform to modify for whatever you're into, as long as a RWD Coupe can fit that bill, the 86 will do it in spades.
