Experience with tow straps?

Hey op, There is a steel towhook in your trunk & is free. Use that if you worry about recover your car with your Jeep.

Thanks for the replies guys I appreciate (most of) the feedback! Let me further explain some things:

1. My curiosity on the subject and the reason behind my post is actually because of an MVA I passed the other night; the car was in a very steep ditch (common in central Arkansas) and the vehicle was pinned against the back-end. I am aware of the tow hook in the back, however if I were to end up where I cannot easily access the trunk, such as this driver, I would be helpless.

2. For the rude members: there’s no need to express every thought that limps across your mind, especially when your “advice” is unsolicited and lacks any value. I did not ask for opinions on the appearance of my car.

Thank you everyone for the helpful replies! I decided to go with a strap that has a disconnecting anterior attachment that can be replaced by a hook should the strap fail.

The tow hook in the trunk can be attached to the front or rear attachment point behind the bumper covers. If you are worried about an unlikely scenario in which you can’t get the trunk open to retrieve the tow hook, just store it in your glove box instead... Some people definitely went overboard with their responses, but your original post made it sound like you were going to use public streets as your own personal test track, which would be highly inconsiderate to the safety of other others on the road.

Admittedly I did not think of how mentioning losing control made it sound! Rest assured I would never put other’s lives in jeopardy like that. I just am essentially an amateur at driving a car with any semblance of advanced performance; I have been an automatic transmission Jeep owner my entire driving life, so everything is completely different.

1. You could also relocate your tow hook to the glove box if thats a concern. You'd want it in a tool bag of some kind so it didn't move about and bang up the glove box, but it's an option.

+1 for using the word "anterior." Can't remember the last time I saw someone use that word.

yep i have a that and a 20$ 5000lb tow rope from lowes in my trunk. pulled me out of snow that was too deep just fine

The strap I'm talking about is this one, don't replace your factory tow point with this, the angle will make the mounting point fail.
