I just started getting a loud tapping/popping noise in the engine bay. I have no ECU codes.
Could this be just the pulley gone bad? I know the pulley tensioner slaps around quite a bit. I have a JRSC with stock internals/pulleys etc.. Spinning the idler pulley by hand. It seems to stop abruptly compared to the other pulleys I spin Another video of the noise Last edited by arren123; 01-01-2018 at 04:09 AM. |

Doesn't sound like a pulley to me. Listen with a rubber hose and isolate where the noise is coming from

Sounds like its in the vicinity of the passenger side around Cylinder #1 or #3, but sounds louder when I'm closer to #3.
Was listening to rod knock videos, and I think it sounds similar. |

Sounds like valve noise. Time to tear into it.

I'm going to bring it to the stealership for a diagnostic. Unfortunately I don't have the time to take it apart.
Hoping that it isn't rod knock and is easier/less expensive to fix. Bracing for the worst though. |

Humfrz,
Give a listen to this one and let me know what you think. It's from a cold start the next day. It is pretty loud when I move to the passenger side. |
