Auto Tranny/Diff Fluid Change
Hello I have a 2015 auto frs
I understand the auto tranny is a B to change the fluid out. I'm wondering if I can trust my dealer to do that or is it best to go to some independant mechanic shop, what are your thoughts on that? Also is it OK to just change the diff fluid only and leave the tranny out of it for now or should I change them both at the same time? Thank you |

I'm about to change out my diff fluid for the second time. With primarily short trip city driving, I find I'm getting 2 years/25000km out of the fluid before the LSD starts to become less smooth in locking up.

![]() For the frequency of changing the AT fluid and the differential oil, I suggest you refer to your car's maintenance manual ...... ![]() Either an experienced auto shop or the dealership should be qualified to change the AT fluid. As far as changing the differential oil ....... I feel that several folks are overreacting to seeing some metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug and get carried away with changing the oil. Yes, when gears mesh together, sometimes metal shavings are produced ...... so what? The magnetic drain plug's job is to attract and hold them ....... so they stay out of the gears. Just because one sees some metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug ...... doesn't mean that the oil in the differential is FULL of metal shavings. However, if YOU feel better about changing the differential oil frequently, go right ahead ........ I doubt YOUR CAR will give a rip....... ![]() humfrz |
