To quote you, "show your math". The internet is devoid of any info regarding even just OEM FT86 chassis rigidity numbers, let alone with a cage, so please fill us all in. And please do so in industry standard Nm/deg format. Unless YOU'RE the one talking out your ass.

Are you saying that the same type of engineering used to design a proper roll cage for another platform, would not translate to this one? |

I'm not debating crash safety. I'm saying adding a cage to our cars does not necessarily equate to a change that has a positive effect on performance, and until you can provide numbers not only quantifying the changes made, but also showing a clear improvement in performance as related to those changes alone, your claim is baseless. Or is it really just because racecar?

And your argument was ice sliding off your roof. Not quite the level of research needed to support such a claim.

That's just a real world daily driving situation in which I notice it. It wasn't an argument. It was an observation. Not seeing where you're going with this.

So sifting though...unless it’s tied to many points throughout the car/cage (like Zeros example) and actually tied to the subframes, a simple 6 or 8 point cage probably isn’t going to add enough support/rigidity to be worth the trouble.
Do we all agree on that? |

I think a better question would be: why do you feel like rigidity needs to be added, and how can you be sure a cage is adding it in areas of any use? I understand you're making more power, etc, but the bottom line is that if the power hasn't cause the chassis to flex any more than it was before, why go to the bother?

My point was more to be sure to use a recognized measurement standard than the actual units used. "My car feels stiffer" isn't acceptable.

Get a far better bang for the buck with a proper stiffening kit. With a kit your are getting stiffening where the car needs it not at some random points throughout the car.
