Track outer shoulder wear : sway bar upgrade?

If you specified to the shop what rake you want, they did not perform the work as requested.

Likewise, I would imagine any good alignment shop would give you a slight forward or neutral rake, not a raised front...

This is what finally made me decide to scrounge up some deals and get scales and pads and do my own alignments. Of course, I'm cursing that decision every time I'm trying to get the rear toe set right... It'll pay off eventually. Probably has of you count the people that have borrowed the scales.

Sucks to have to go back.

You'll get better/faster/more consistent at it.

When I started doing my own alignments the best thing I did was spend nearly an entire weekend realigning both my FXT and my BRZ. I learned a lot, and it was helpful knowing I had an entire weekend dedicated to getting it right. I got close on both cars that weekend, but it went from 'it looks okay..?' to 'you did this yourself?' when I decided to pay a shop $50 to just throw it on the rack and see how close I was.

Measure a known good alignment, screw it up, then return it to the good alignment numbers, then hit a 'custom' alignment, then return it to the known good alignment. It'll cost you a day, a few beers, and you'll try a few things that won't work, but you'll learn a ton.

i spoke to the shop who did the work, and he said that the car is actually level, it just looks lower because the top of the front wheel arch is higher than the top of the rear wheel arch so the car looks like its higher at the front.


yes i have the other APR side skirt at home , its installed on the other side of the car.

its all going to be removed for the full VERUS racing catalog soon.

Level ground.

A seemingly flat surface can easily slope an inch or more over the 86s wheelbase.

i can measure it, and i will just to satisfy my curiosity. but as for the shop,
my car holds the record for fastest stock engine 86 around our local track in NSW.
so whatever he was doing to my suspension clearly worked.
it always just looked funky.

i will measure tonight when i install my other APR skirt that is back from being repaired.

i use advan AD08Rs , -4.3 front and -3 rear. toe out and the front i think and not sure on the toe at the rear but it turns on a dime.

Great job Surok, but just so we know more which track do you run at? Wakefield Park or Eastern Creek? And what coilovers and spring rates and any swaybar mods? How wide are your tyres? With our Macpherson struts we do benefit from having more static camber and getting even wear could just mean you have found the sweet spot for rolling resistance on AD08R which are still street tyres. If you go onto R Compounds or Slicks then the equation changes again and you may need -6 deg camber for eg.. And yes i have witnessed -6 on a WRX STI and it worked wonders at the track winning its class, but as mentioned its determined by many variables.

wakefield: that was 1:10 on 225/40R18 hankook RS3 with custom mca shocks and DS2500 brake pads.
