Humming noise from head unit

Hello everyone,

Quick question. I recently found that there is a humming noise from my head unit, which sounds like a computer fan with a bad bearing. I was able to verify this with the engine and fans off and the car in accessory mode.

A few searches yielded that the best way to fix is to replace the unit all together.

I plan on pulling the head unit out to visually inspect. Does anyone know if it's possible to service the fan, of if a replacement is the best course of action.

Additionally, if replacement is the best option, would this be covered under warranty?

My car is a 2016 FRS with 40,000KM.

Thanks in advance everyone!

EDIT: Resolution:
I made a video and sent to my service advisor. He was able to order a replacement head unit under warranty. Zero cost to me.

Scion USA has a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty so I would think yours would be covered also. Worst case, replacing the fan would be pretty simple.

We've seen a few of those fans take a dump. I'm sure they can be replaced but until now, no one has taken any interest.

You are still in warranty. Don't pull it yourself or even touch it. If you do you risk hearing "So sorry Mr 7831 but we won't cover under warranty since you tampered with it". Just take it in and have them deal with it.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the responses. I'd like to click the Thanks button but I might not have the post count to do that as of yet.

For my head unit, it's an intermittent problem. Yesterday it was buzzing away, but this morning not so much as a whisper.

Guess I will pump up the volume until it's fixed :P
